Try removing all bootable devices in bios menu, then reboot, re - add them via bios and reboot. I have gone trough this with some ubuntu updates because i do use non standard realtime kernel, I have to add the drive to boot menu everytime i update kernel.

i do have supermicro x9dri with 2 gpus + onboard one active :) one is passed trough to vm, onboard is disabled in the vm

did you tried setting oprom to legacy for this slot, and manipulating bifurcation settings? i assume you have latest bios already? unfortunately i dont have any pcie soundcard handy to test :(

I use usb sound card / usb microphone - works pretty well both in linux and in windows. Maybe you can manipulate bios settings and lower the slot speed to 2.0 ? do you have 2 cpus? if no only lower half of the slots works
