On related subject (at the moment I've moved away for QS area for reliability) - just in case if anyone was wondering what accelerators LGA4677 SPR 8481C (SRM8H , OEM Google) has - per socket: x1 QAT (QuickAssist Technology) x1 DLB (Dynamic Load Balancer) x4 DSA (Data Streaming Accelerator) x4...

ASUS Pro WS W790E-SAGE SE + Intel Xeon Sapphire Rapids SPR-SP

That's expected, 4+ Kilos of silicon/plastic/copper/aluminum should feel very different in high-tech form vs pure raw material brick (leaving aside price differences). ;)

Thanks, wrote to US seller (who has 8481C) instead of Chinese one. Let's see if sale gets through.

Does SPR stepping matters at all for normal (non-ES) processors? e.g. E3 (for 8487C) vs E5 (for 8481C) CPU versions ? (for Supermicro MB in dual-cpu config) I'm about to get two from China for $920 each - but not sure which to pick. Thank you.

    What is this thing

It's just physics and engineering efficiency with balled soldering chips installs, when ball of solder melts - it's most efficient to take a round form over any other (because of "surface tension", cohesion, wetting, molecular gravity). With multi-installation solderless LGA sockets - shape of...

    What is this thing

As @RolloZ170 is pointing out in a post above - most likely Intel Ponte Vecchio GPU (SOC) Not a CPU, doesn't match any of AMD versions I've seen Upper one (no label) looks like (FC)LGA 4K-5.5K range (88x62 array) has too low pin count for LGA 7529 (although capacitor area is symmetric too) and...

is there a Cooler for Epyc 9965 (Default TDP 500W)

If we're talking about air then It's all about (physics/thermodynamics): 1) heat transfer between CPU contact surface and delivery (pipes) to 2) heat exchange space (fins) = total surface area and 3) airflow (+input temperature) over that surface to move heat energy away. Normally most premium...

GIGABYTE MS03-CE0 + Intel Xeon Emerald Rapids EMR-SP

Indeed, thanks for the link. "Intel Xeon Scalable processors have two FMA units per core to combine multiplication and addition into a single operation and accelerate computation speeds."

I'm not sure if it even has AVX512 for all x64 cores, as far as I know normally Intel CPUs (most Xeons) have two AVX512 execution units per CPU (hardly per tile/chiplet) edit: specification for 8592+ clearly states: # of AVX-512 FMA Units = 2

is there something wrong with ALL server components availability in the whole continent of Europe?

Have you considered what there might be something wrong with Google (they way they crawl content and shape algos to deliver you the results) ? There're some quite negative trends in that area over last year or two as well.

Agreed, Desktop grade 14900 has all the sleep-states and can go into stand-by, this Xeon is a very different beast and you can't put it into sleep mode.

Supermicro H12DSI Motherboard Missing Pins for Front Panel Reset Button

It seems to be upside-down, so pins 19-20 are at the bottom your screenshot, there's white printing next to buzzer with JF1 pinout.

this does makes sense, ebay images for 8473C show L240.. (L= Malaysia, 2=year 2022, week 40) - period they started extending SKU range offering, (and for 8487C = L211.. , year 2022 week 11), although as you have explained previously - seller have no troubles re-print anything they need on lids.

Non-ES info but I've noticed recently market had price adjustment (or new-obsolete stock release) for SPR 8473C (for Microsoft) and 8487C (not sure to whom those were intended for - AWS, GCP, AliBaba, IBM, etc.) at some ok-ish prices, I think both models are designed for multi-socket...

    Random memory death?

Always, safely cleaning sophisticated contacts after non-standard transportation/storage should be in must-do checklist. Not necessarily with alcohol though, since it tends not to be very good for electronics due to some added chemicals

X13DAI is predominantly the same as X13DEI (plus audio and some other features), same chipset (just as it's younger single-CPU bro like X13SEI), therefore as long as CPU works on official bios (despite not being listed there by SM) with X13DEI/X13SEI - I would assume it should be compatible with...

Higher power Intel CPUs on MB - LGA4677 question

That's an excellent info confirming potential compatibility, will try to make an offer on ebay (although most of members there are not actual owners of a product but are just resellers therefore can't really make adequate market-matching pricing - only minor flexibility within their profit...

Higher power Intel CPUs on MB - LGA4677 question

My X13 SuperMicro motherboard supports 350W Sapphire Rapids LGA4677 CPUs, but I've seen some Xeons traded having higher factory TDP (specifically 385W) - it has compatible with MB production stepping (not ES/QS). What happens if I plug this CPU into MB? Will it boot to BIOS ? (where I can...

If nothing else helps then worst case PWM controllers like HW-585 (3-channels) or Corsair Commander Pro/Core/XT versions (with iCue software managed via USB).

As for a price I do agree, €25 per core is the upper justifiable limit. Not sure what all those ebay sellers are waiting for with QS/ES and fake-printed lids by trying to keep prices that high. Although it mostly looks like they to not actually own inventory but are just resellers (hence only...
