Lenovo M700/M900 BIOS mod to Coffee Lake CPUs

For M710Q, yes, for M720Q, see my post here: https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/lenovo-thinkcentre-thinkstation-tiny-project-tinyminimicro-reference-thread.34925/post-487482

Lenovo M700/M900 BIOS mod to Coffee Lake CPUs

I'm sorry, I don't have it anymore, but it's easy to do it again in CoffeeTime, and you will preserve the unique info so it's better this way. M710Q: M720Q:

New twist: I found a 135W power supply, which allows the M720Q to power the i5-9500 up to 80W. It then quickly drops to 65W, and sometimes to 35W due to the cooling system, but it goes back up to 65W. Clearly, the heatsink is unable to cool the processor effectively. The temperature rises and...

Can't you use a VPN ? Many browsers now have one, or you can install an extension. I've checked it, I will not add or change resistors, that's too much for me. It's weird that the amps limit is higher with a 35W CPU though

Thanks for the link, I will read it. You can't see imgur links in UK ? Here are the direct links: Yes, I think you're right. Can we mod the BIOS on M720Q ? I have a CH341A.

But these limits are 65W and 122W respectively with i5-9500.

That's not my experience, in CBR23 mt benchmarks (10 min), M710Q performs better than M720Q, all of them with the same CPU (i5-9500) Compare their heatsink: M710Q: M720Q: M720Q with 90W PSU: M710Q with 65W PSU (around 23% better than M720Q !): M720Q With CPU-Z bench CPU Package...

I found something interesting about the M720Q, that probably also applies to M920Q and newer. I've changed the 35W CPU for a i5-9500 with a TDP of 65W. If I keep the original 65W power brick, the CPU will never be allowed to eat more than 35W, meaning the mobo knows somehow the power rating of...

That's interesting, I have 2 M720Q, I would be interested to buy two of these risers. I'm from France.

When I do a stress test with CPU-Z, I can see that the M720Q is able to deliver around 60W (sensor CPU package power in HWiNFO) to the CPU, but only for about a minute, then it only delivers 35W, so I believe some thermal throttling is happening.

I've changed the CPU for a I5-9500 and also the power supply to 90W. Have you too ? EDIT: the correct one should be this one:

Hi, I'm looking for a 65W heatsink for M720Q, apparently the model numbers are 01MN631/01MN632. They are very expensive, even on Aliexpress I can't find them below 70€, some models are even more expensive, more than 100€ ! Anyone knows where could I find one cheaper ? I'm from France. They...

Lenovo M700/M900 BIOS mod to Coffee Lake CPUs

I see, thanks for your answer. So for M710Q/M910Q, there is no downside for using CoffeeTime, isn't it ?

What exactly is incompatible in this PCIe patch ? Because it (seems to) works fine on mine.

Lenovo M700/M900 BIOS mod to Coffee Lake CPUs

I've successfully modded two M710Q the same way than the M910Q, and installed the same CPU (i5-9500). They're almost exactly the same, the cooler are a bit different, they seems better built on the M710Q. Here is a photo of the pinmod. To make the bridge, I used copper tape, bought on...

Lenovo M700/M900 BIOS mod to Coffee Lake CPUs

Hi, I've successfully modded a M910Q with CoffeeTime, I've installed a i5-9500, it works very well, only draws 45W at heavy load. I've changed the PSU for a 90W one to be on the safe side. Before CoffeeTime: The dump opened in CoffeeTime: Once all patchs applied: Some images of the...
