Dell Ultrastar DC SS540 800GB drives only showing 400GB usable.

Backwards compatibility / replacement parts for the 400GB model / machines that expect it that way. https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/lu-is-resource-provisioned.44413/post-428108 I would try this and hope for the best (replug after it is done): sg_format --format --size=4096...

Flashing IT Firmware for 9500-8I to IT

https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/hba355_ug_en-us.pdf <- on page 9 there it is. LSI Fusion-MPT 12 G SAS/PCIe Secure SAS3816 + non raid = should be "IT" But try it out in test environment. Anyway, it does never hurt to have such an HBA with IT-FW laying around as spare part. ;)

Flashing IT Firmware for 9500-8I to IT

If your R750 allows non-whitelisted Hardware, you can choose any HBA you want or is available for small bucks at your location. https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/lsi-raid-controller-and-hba-complete-listing-plus-oem-models.599/ Choose minimum SAS2308 or SAS3008 based ones. The...

Flashing IT Firmware for 9500-8I to IT

Wrong question. The question is about IT(integrated target)-Firmware vs IR(integrated Raid)-Firmware. You want IT-Firmware for ZFS, not the IR. Depends what "dell firmware" is. IT or IR? It is possible to enforce a ZFS-setup on IR (with multiple raid0s coming "out of the IR-firmware"), but you...

    Firmware package for Samsung SM883/MZ7KH3T8HALS

Doesn't work that way. If you can pass security checks aka "vendor commands" you can sometimes download only parts of the mostly over 100 snippets/modules (yes, a 2MB firmware looks innocent, but it's complex af) but you won't get the drive to spit out a binary ready to flash another disk and...

Flashing IT Firmware for 9500-8I to IT

Those cards always need a driver to work to be precise, but I think you wanted to say that you don't need to fiddle that manually with most linux distris. :)

Seagate Exos power management (spin down) issues on TrueNAS Scale

= APM Choose either APM or EPC. Double-check with hdparm; if in doubt, explicitly disable APM and also disable TrueNAS's own GUI power management settings. Then choose either idle_c or standby, but definitely not both! Idle_a and idle_b can stay; they won't interfere with each other.

Bricked Oracle F40 card but I have another working one.

Some cards need a jumper during the flash (write access) and then pulled again for normal usage. Maybe your card needs it? https://www.servethehome.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/IBM-M1215-LSI-SAS3008-HBA-jumper-on-and-off.jpg

Updating the HGST HDD & SSD firmware

You don't need special vendor tool, you just need the correct binary file to flash. You could boot linux live version, there you can use fwupd, seachest/seaflash, hdparm. Or you can use FreeBSD live, there you have native camcontrol and also hdparm. All of them are universal, you just need the...
