Lenovo Thinkcentre/ThinkStation Tiny (Project TinyMiniMicro) Reference Thread

Don' have any lenova's anymore but I have used the wifi slot to house M.2 nvmes 2230 size in the past just fine, you may not even need that specific adaptor, and can find all sorts from amazon, ebay and more so from aliexpress like this one here or search for M.2 WiFi to M.2 NVMe. I got mine...

Lenovo Thinkcentre/ThinkStation Tiny (Project TinyMiniMicro) Reference Thread

Yeah that is the issue there appears only 2 type of riser cards, I posted the ones above there is that cheaper one around £10-15 then the expensive one around £30-40 which has extra capicitors, chipsets (see 3-4 post above). The cheap one never fit into my gen 6 lenova, only the expensive one...

Lenovo Thinkcentre/ThinkStation Tiny (Project TinyMiniMicro) Reference Thread

I tried these 2 lenova riser cards on my M90q Gen 6 and only the top one fitted, but did not detect any sata/raid/network or nvme addon cards. The green light appeared on the addon cards oddly but no detection in windows 11 or linux. Did not have a gpu to test it since not a gamer. Wish they...

Lenovo Thinkcentre/ThinkStation Tiny (Project TinyMiniMicro) Reference Thread

Forgot to add above in regards to the ThinkCentre M90q Gen 6, the expansion addon cards of 2.5gb (realtek) and thunderbolt 4 are great to use along with the 3 x pci 4.0 nvme slots but the issue is you can't then use the pci-e 8x slot since there is no clearance space for any pci cards there...

Lenovo Thinkcentre/ThinkStation Tiny (Project TinyMiniMicro) Reference Thread

re-edited my post, meant to say just sitting in windows desktop not doing much, ie few websites open and few apps running in background. Yes with keyboard/mouse and ethernet connected, wireless and 4K/60 on LG C2 TV. I think it got to around similar like 3-4 watts when in that deeper idle...

Well this was the issue for me, £480 with black friday discounts with 235T, 8gb DDR5 and 512gb nvme and thunderbolt 4 and realtek 2.5gb nic but the price has gone through the roof due to memory prices so its £740 now, so its not worth it. Overall though Its a lovely bit of kit with 3 year...

thanks for confirming this issue, had a feeling it was just for that gpu in there but it would have been nice to have other pci e cards work with it. Gonna have to sell £50 worth of riser cards now. The realtek 2.5gb and thunderbolt 4 adaptor go in 2 expansion separate type slots, lenova was...

Lenovo Thinkcentre/ThinkStation Tiny (Project TinyMiniMicro) Reference Thread

Some quick early test of the ThinkCentre M90q Gen 6, this was with 2.5gb ethernet and thunderbolt 3/4 addon card installed. Intel 235T cpu 32gb DDR5 3 x WD 8TB drives 20-22 watts idle in windows (sitting on desktop not doing much), linux was less 18-19 watts (sitting in desktop not doing much)...

Hi got an ThinkCentre M90q Gen 6, its one of the their latest lenova thinkcentres with the intel core ultra cpus (235T), amazing and stable little mini pc with 3 nvme slots, their custom pci-e 8x slot. I got this Plugged it into that custom lenova pci-e 8x slot it fits fine, but it does not...

Minisforum MS-A2 PCIe/RAM/Hardward Compatibility And GuideThread

Still nuts one has to go through the trenches to figure out fan and power headers when they could have easily added additional fan headers. I gave up and just went the usb fan route with the dial switch to adjust the fan rpm, this is with mini pc set ups in general. I give a fair amount of...

Minisforum MS-A2 PCIe/RAM/Hardward Compatibility And GuideThread

The issue with nvme compatibility is across the board with mini pcs really, you just have to stick with the bigger and better brands out there like intel or samsung or western digital to remain compatible I have found, but it is trial and error so maybe purchase from someone with easier returns...

Lenovo Thinkcentre/ThinkStation Tiny (Project TinyMiniMicro) Reference Thread

Question for lenova owners, anyone tried an WD black 8TB nvme inside and did it work properly with compatibility and not overheat? Considering the ThinkCentre M90q Gen 6 with the latest gen intel core ultra cpus, which has 3 x nvme slots for a unraid/truenas build, but unsure of...

    CWWK/Topton/... Nxxx quad NIC router

I started with one 0.2mm honeywell PTM layer first and when I screw down the heatsink or heatsink router type case I then undo those same screws and lift it up and see if its left an imprint on the honeywell pad or not. If no imprint than just build it up from there so add another 0.2mm pad on...

    CWWK/Topton/... Nxxx quad NIC router

Gave up on thermal paste myself, I just use Arctic TP3 thermal pads from amazon or Honeywell PTM7950 if you can get them genuine stocked. Just need to do it once and never worry about thermal paste drying out, leaking or cleaning ever again. Seems to fill any voids or gaps well.

    LGA 1851 Arrow Lake "Servers"

Playing around with an dell micro optiplex atm with an Ultra 5 235T 35watter and its so lovely to see 15-25 watts in general surfing/YT watching, yet still have the power and speed of a more higher end type PC. Does boost to 40-60 watts with more load ie app loading or unraring etc but then can...

    CWWK/Topton/... Nxxx quad NIC router

Yeah tad hotter, I think all intel did was rebadged the N100 by boosted the cpu and gpu clocks a tad for the N150/350, so it just ran more hotter. If they added more pci-e lanes that would have been an worthy upgrade, maybe next time.

    CWWK W680 NAS motherboard

Wish Cwwk used the newer W880 chipset rather then the older W680 chipset from years ago. The arrow lake/15th gen has 4 more pci-e lanes with the right cpu ie ultra 5 235 and better energy efficiency also. Playing around with an dell micro optiplex atm with an Ultra 5 235T 35watter and its so...

    CWWK/Topton/... Nxxx quad NIC router

One thing to note is the N150/N355 cpus run a tad hotter then their previous N100/N350s. A few NAS boxes out there I suspect saw the possible thermal issues and stuck with the N100 over the N150 like the lincstation N2. I believe the early prototype or specs mentioned a possible N150 but then...

    LGA 1851 Arrow Lake "Servers"

Still trying to get parts for my new workstation unraid build, spotted the Intel core ultra 5 225 going more cheaper and almost made the mistake of buying one since its a good £60-80 less then the ultra 5 235 cpu but it does not support ECC memory like the ultra 5 235 does so just be warned...

    LGA 1851 Arrow Lake "Servers"

Cheers, yeah I don't fancy getting the 235T cpu its not even stocked my end so quite tricky and almost £50-60 cost more, but I was at the same time hoping to get a NAS that can pull 30-40ish watts from the wall during light to medium task and hopefully 20-30watts idle. I would be using all nvme...
