I'm looking to upgrade my Tachi 2950X rig to the 3000 or 5000 series. ...which also means I'll have a rock solid stable ASRock Tacho X399 + 2950X combo for sale soon. ;)
Already have memory. Just looking for a CPU and/or Mobo combos you all may have. Highly prefer ASRock mobos over all...
I agree. Cisco and Ruckus are superior, especially with mesh and handoffs.
However, a lot of people still have Unifi controllers running, and this is an inexpensive expansion for a true high density device.
IIRC, there is an option to designate a "Dedicated Master", which disables the AP and turns the device into a dedicated master controller.
It's an option though, not automatically disables if you have 3 or more.
I have a few spares so I'll try to setup a network to verify. But I'm pretty sure...
Since we are talking 801.11ac WiFi 5 high-density 4x4 APs over in the Ruckus R710 great deal thread, I just happened to run across an Ubiquiti listing for BF.

These come with the PoE adapter as well, itself worth $30-$40.
eBay generally has them...
Yes, they need the higher-power PoE+. Best I gathered was the "beamflex" antennas increase from 500 to 4000 for the stronger signals.
It's partly why we went with R610s at the non-profit, since they had an old PoE switch.
I was trying to comment on the other thread before it was deleted.
You best bet for ROI is to strip all of those DDR4 modules and sell individually. 512GB DDR4, even slow 2400mhz, is close to $1000.
Yes, a Ruckus UNLEASHED access point designated as a controller functions normally as an access point without any performance hit (or you can disable the AP if you want, it's optional).
So you would only need 3.
For multiple access points in your house, you can set up anything as stand-alone...
I just setup 10x of the R610s (very similar) plus 3x T610 (outdoor) donated to a non-profit. The R710 is the last gen before WiFi6, considered wifi5 though there wasn't any spec back then. The Ubiquiti UAP-AC-HD "High-Density" is a direct 1:1 comparison, right down to the bonding.
You want to...
Wendell was right. He warned us 4 weeks ago that HDD prices are going to skyrocket.
And they did. I was about to buy a bulk of 16TB drives for $150 and 10TB for $85. But now they are $230 and $130+, respectfully. Thats an increase of over 50% in 3 weeks!
Trust me, this is one of the last...
I was saving to purchase 5-8 HDDs for the ZFS clusters, but my gawd Wendell was right: HDDs were to shoot up in October and I'm pissed.
10 TB HGST SAS3 were priced 30 days ago at $79/ea on eBay (bulk), now $110-ish.
16 TB Seagate SAS3 were $149, now $219-ish.
Does anyone have an array of 10...
Pics of the Origin designs would go a long way here.
And I just bought 3x 3080s for $220/ea. You'll want to show off the Origin tubing design and LEDs, etc for that asking.
