Damn, missed that  . That was a good one indeed!

Yeah, it's AI Hell  . I should have bought more when I had the Chance. Well, I still need to deploy them anyways, so it's not like they are currently being used ... yet. There is always some Parts I miss for the Server Builds, then everything drags on ... forever .

Seems crazy expensive to me  . I could get 3.84 TB for less than 100 EUR a few Months back (SATA, not NVMe though).

Limited to one backup in which way ? For Block/Filesystem Level Backup you can use zfs snapshots. For File Level Backup you can use restic, borg, rsnapshots, ... There are plenty of choices. BackupPC / Amanda / Bacula are some older software, not sure how much I'd like to use them nowadays...

Good Point about pulling vs pushing. My thought was for backup Server to pull from Client, but not so much for security Reasons. It just seemed easier/more logical, maybe because I wouldn't need 100 Users, cannot remember now (didn't do it yet).

Usability vs security :( . I could also use something like Qubes OS but to be honest I typically prefer a Debian-base (be it Debian or Ubuntu). Also KVM instead of Xen (Qubes OS uses Xen Hypervisor). I think that would very easily get very complex though, let alone it will explode the Disk...

Not quite sure how that works. They say Certificate based Authentication ... How is that different from just using SSH with Certificates (yes ... there is actually an Option to add Certificates to OpenSSH on top of using the Private & Public Key Pair). Also in that Case, if your management...

I have the opposite Way. I didn't play much with restic yet, but as a general Rule, if you rely on a GUI-only Program, then you cannot easily script it. If you can script it (CLI), then you can do whatever YOU want to do it, automate it, schedule, etc. I like GUIs, I'm not a vim User etc...

Yeah you make it sound so easy ... I'd like to have a working System. Even Bitwarden Password Manager is a PITA in its own Right ... Even when you are in the correct Folder, when creating an Item, you STILL need to type/select that Folder and after saving the Password, in order to copy it, you...

I'm not using it yet, but I heard restic was a good Option. Deduplication, Encryption, and you can run it with a local Disc as a Target, to a HTTPS restic Server and I believe over SSH if you want that road.

    How does a Windows-only Application help with GNU/Linux ?

I only have Firewall (kinda) set up on 1 Proxmox VE Host (takes Time to make sure that all Whitelisting and Management rules are in place in order to avoid getting locked out). Nothing on Desktop. I don't use Windows anymore so that's one less Thing to worry about. But Linux and SSH with...

Not if they do zfs destroy -r ... if they can gain access. I heard restic in append-only mode was also good against ransomware (since nothing older can be deleted), but all bets are off if the Account running the Program (let alone root) gets compromised.

Oh yeah I'd be in a big **** if that happened. Same credential everywhere both for root and normal User  . Once again tied to that Issue with Salt and lack of being able to deploy Credentials. I could in Theory change everywhere except my Workstations, and store the passwords in...

Uh ? Single VDEV has the same available Disk Space as a Mirror ... I'm not claiming it does. I agree I should have a Backup. But until I keep having one Issue after the other, Salt/Saltstack keeps having Bugs (last workaround I had to do was Debian Permissions after each Update), I don't...

To be honest I'm also starting to think whether to downgrade future systems to a single SATA / NVMe Drive (with Backup Server turned on 24/7 and backing up every few Minutes) instead of a ZFS Mirror Setup  . Knock on Wood, I don't recall having had ZFS Failures, aside from some...

    EXPIRED HYVE Edge Metal G10 - Epyc 7642 - 250£/offer

It's basically linear shipping above 2 Units (EDIT 3: at around 65 GBP / Unit, whereas a single Unit was 30 GBP Shipping). They also declined offers at 100 GBP and 120 GBP and countered at 150 GBP after my last Offer. That's almost double what I paid last Time though (this Time would be around...

I just sent an Offer for 1 more ... Shipping Costs to Denmark are VERY weird this Time though: approx. 30 GBP for 1 pc approx. 130 GBP for 2 pcs approx. 260 GBP for 4 pcs I paid 70 GBP shipping for 4 pcs last Time  . EDIT 1: declined 90 GBP
