Which SAN software will run atop RHEL?

What will you boot via SAN. VMs? or Physical machines? You should really describe what you intend to do and or at least make a simple outline of your desired storage architecture. Pretty sure that you can use iSCSI or NVME-oF on RHEL-clones. Another old and kinda forgotten is AoE. I dabbled...

Pcie GPU with an Aspeed AST2400, aka the lowest power UEFI-compatible GPU

Some data for comparison. My AMD HD 8350 was consuming ~4w idle when booted live SystemRescue apart from 92mm fan and 4x RAM sticks nothing else was consuming power.

Pcie GPU with an Aspeed AST2400, aka the lowest power UEFI-compatible GPU

Any data on power consumption? Does this card prevent your server from going into deeper sleep states? Since you have written that you have flashed the UEFI firmware onto NOR chip when it was desoldered i assume any buyer of this card would have to do the same?

    ZFS NAS as Virtual Machine

I have been using raw partition passthrough to accomplish similar thing you want to do. In my case i am using btrfs + nfs. It had worked well for me so far. virt-manager config example. <disk type="block" device="disk"> <driver name="qemu" type="raw" cache="none"/> <source...

    First Server Build

The man is trying to run a game server and has spare computer already so i do not think he needs to buy old hardware and do i have serious doubts whether his game server could actually benefit from anemic old Xeons. Sure you can nitpick on my power hungry assessment and retrospect i should have...

Suggestions for low power inexpensive GPU when no iGPU

AMD 8350 can be had for 14USD on ebay. Single slot, fan entirely powered by PCIe slot. Mine has not arrived yet so i do not know the idle power consumption but i would hazard that it would not consume much but it might prevent the server from going into lower power states.

    First Server Build

The requested list is private. Do you have need for BMC? Will your server be far enough from you that the BMC would be of use to you? What exactly are you going to run on this gaming server? I personally would not run any server without ECC ram because i am too lazy to deal with bad RAM sticks...

Have you seen its VRM? I am asking because i am not sure whether 180W TDP limitation stems from 1U cooling heatsink heat dissipation limits or VRM is lacking.

CPU cooling trick: safe? would you do it?

You should really stop creating new topic each time some new crazy idea pops into your head. Create one thread fatherboard insane asylum or whatever and stick just to that topic. Otherwise you will get attention you secretly crave. Is there way to not be notified if certain user creates new thread?
