I’m not too sure to be completely honest. However I know that you need cell reception to be able to check to see if your device is able to register to the network. This device is a faraday cage internally, you will need SMA Connectors out of the device even if you don’t attach any antennas.

I have exactly the same setup. You must install SIM card when device is turned off completely then check again. Hot swapping doesn’t work at all. EDIT: Also you must install the simcard in the position that feels wrong. Cutout on the sim must face towards you and NOT towards inside of the device.

I actually ordered caps a while back after seeing this post I forgot that they were sitting on my parts drawer, todays message notifications made me realize what I was supposed to and, replacing the said cap with an electrolytic one indeed also fixed my erratic post/boot issues. Thanks!
