Thanks for advice, but problem lies in PCIe detection/recognition routine in BIOS.
Once I configured SLOT6 bifurcation to "x4x4x4x4" then Qlogic card is detected OK by BIOS + OS (Win and RHEL), but of course running with 4 PCIe lanes only.
Setting can be found under BIOS:
Advanced tab -> PCIe...
Having H13SAE-MF no matter what I do board does not recognize my Qlogic FibreChannel controller (PCIe 3.0 x8), despite it's basic PCIe compliant device recognized in X12SPL-F and X11SSM-F boards + HP and ASUS desktop recognize cards allright.
There is something fishy with H13SAE-MF PCIe...
FYI for all interested in buying boards from SuperMicro - the sooner you buy the better.
Supermicro has stopped selling "components" alone.
Been talking to Supermicro guys and it looks like that they are trying to move into "premium" segment selling whole machines.
According to ConnectX5-EN product brief - Page4 Table1 you can find that there is only one PCIe 4.0 x16 card available - that was the reason why I decided to go that way.
Port 2 is seen by the OS (Windows Server / Linux / FreeBSD), but I know that I do not have to use it :).
I bought last 2 pieces 3-5 minutes before your post :). Already have one in lab and Optanes are as usual funtastic.
And yeah - guys were selling HHHL pcie 3.0 x4 cards.
Definitely - I was shocked by the change they "invented".
Seems to me that they released new GUI cause somebody have to proove their importance/work (but it happens almost everywhere in IT with arguments like more "modern / sleek" :D)
1. Let me confirm that crossflash MCX512A-ACU (pci-e 3.0) -> MCX512A-ADA (pci-e 4.0) works.
I crossflashed 2 cards and they seem to work OK at 25 Gbps on both ports.
Command used (windows and linux - under linux do not forget "mst start"):
$ mst status
$ flint -d mt4119_pciconf0 -i...
Dear Jelmer,
thanks a lot for providing link to newer OS10.

This!
I have available older versions of OS10 from DDL (Dell Digital Locker), but as you mentioned I can download only versions that belong to the contract that I had.
And while logged into DDL i see that more recent OS10 versions are available, I'm not allowed to download them as they were...
Dear Jelmer
I've downloaded OS10 and after extracting "Payload" it seems that inside EXE is PKGS_OS10-Enterprise-10.5.6.7.218buster-installer-x86_64.bin .
Thanks a lot for providing link - KUDOZ man!

Hello Jelmer,
I currently have 10.5.5.3.56 and I'm searching one of the following versions / files for my HomeLab Dell S5212F-ON (which is now 2 years out of support contract):
OS10_Enterprise_10.5.6.8.242.tar
OS10_Enterprise_10.6.0.3.82.tar
@vitrag:
thanks a lot for taking care and browsing...
Dear Vitrag,
thanks a lot for replying to this old thread.
In the meantime of couse I've visited DELL support site but they distribute only images for GNS3 virtualization.
For DELL physical switch you have to have support contract (which for home LAB is not worth paying).
To be honest having Optane as OS drive is meaningless, but for databases/source file compilations it's a champion.
500 for new p5800x is too low.
Not to mention - consider Intel 905P, it will be cheaper.
Hi, what is reasonable price?
I have 3pcs in my home lab, 3x 400GB - unused (to be precise, used for 0x000005% ).
Also some PMEM 200 series available ;)... 8x 128GB
