The heat the drive is generating may be a factor as all tape drives should have some cooling.
Firmware updates rarely fix LTO issues especially with read and writing.
Maybe the tape has snapped?
The drive logs may tell you more.
I recently took a punt at one of these server chassis.
So far so good no issues other than cooling the SAS HBA, just need to sort out a better cooler for it.
Not cheap but it has got a SAS/NVME backplane which is what i needed.
I just have a Xeon Silver 4114.
i have tried these models, both have supermicro on them.

No matter what i do it fails. maybe its the board.
i have another supermicro board that is happy with hp memory.
Im using a Ceacent controller for NVME drives. is there a reason when plugging in a drive it doesn't auto detect it, every time i plug and unplug a drive you have to scan bus in device manger.
