    Mellanox Cx4121C Connectx-4 Opinions

ConnectX 4 Lx cards like that are great, though I haven't used the Dell versions, generally the original firmware is fine and you usually don't need to flash the stock Mellanox version. Note there may be HPE or Lenovo versions available cheaper, it's worth checking those models. Bonding...

EXPIRED Cheap thunderbolt 3 nvme ssd enclosure $22 + shipping

For the M.2 drive I tested the longer case screw touched the PCB to secure it just before it bottomed out, but the screws which hold the adapter into the case work too, they're M2.5x3mm, and while I haven't checked, they're almost certainly standard pitch.

    32gb optane modules

I can't help with details of ZFS implementation, but there are two different 118GB Optane models, the 800p, which is similar performance to the 64GB, and the p1600x, which is significantly faster and higher longevity, and I think would probably be wasted on a lightly-used filesystem.

    Supermicro BPN-SAS3-826SEL1-N4 Backplane info

I got the backplane to fit but the drive connectors didn't align, except for the right column of bays, the spacing between each column is a little bit smaller than stock (I held the original backplane and the SEL together and that made it pretty clear,) so the second-to-right bay could be forced...

Only getting 500Mb/s copying between SAS3 SSDs?

I suspect everything is connected and working fine.

Only getting 500Mb/s copying between SAS3 SSDs?

Most benchmarks focus on a single volume, because read/write to/from RAM should tell you enough to figure out the maximum disk-to-disk rate, plus if you're doing actual file copies they will go disk to ram then ram to disk. If you want something more sophisticated than the Ubuntu built in...

Only getting 500Mb/s copying between SAS3 SSDs?

dd isn't really a benchmark, unless your workload involves running dd I wouldn't worry about its performance.

EXPIRED Cheap thunderbolt 3 nvme ssd enclosure $22 + shipping

Ended up grabbing an SFF-8643 M.2 adapter because it was cheap and fast, took the Thunderbolt board out of the housing so I didn't have to snap the end off the adapter in case I want to use it in a 22110 slot in the future, and it worked with a U.2 drive running on an external power brick, in...

So...how many 2.5" disks can you put in a Chenbro NR40700?

Kinda small for a box fan at 10", found this one but the price isn't wonderful: https://www.amazon.com/Vornado-Velocity-Digital-Removable-Variable/dp/B0DQLYB69J/

EXPIRED Cheap thunderbolt 3 nvme ssd enclosure $22 + shipping

Got mine and haven't tested it yet but I did pull it apart, also only had two chassis screws and no screw for the M.2, but all of the screws appear to be M2.5 thread. To save everyone else the trouble of removing the PCB the configuration seems to be a JHL7440 TB3 controller which passes USB...

found - US - WTB nvidia quadro t600, t1000, or other single slot graphics card

Yeah it's the same amdgpu driver that runs all the modern AMD cards, provided right in the kernel and pretty constantly maintained, I'm currently running a bit newer Radeon Pro but it's been trouble-free.

found - US - WTB nvidia quadro t600, t1000, or other single slot graphics card

For around $25 you can get an AMD Radeon Pro WX2100 on ebay, Linux drivers are pretty solid last I checked, it's single slot, low profile, and slot-powered.

Water cooling of 0.5-1 kW processors

If the radiator is running at room temperature and the CPU is overheating then there's clearly a different issue than short term heat capacity here, either insufficient flow rate or the water block is not transferring the heat out of the CPU adequately.

Water cooling of 0.5-1 kW processors

I would look at increasing the coolant flow rate through the water blocks first, though I don't know about how those specific water coolers are set up, how that could be achieved, or how much pressure those systems can handle.

EXPIRED Cheap thunderbolt 3 nvme ssd enclosure $22 + shipping

Given how much other power my plan would require I figured I would toss a spare 1U PSU in there, but for a less exciting build I have somewhere a brick power supply with a 4 pin Molex connector, from an older (like 2.5" PATA laptop drive old) external drive adapter that I figured would work.

EXPIRED Cheap thunderbolt 3 nvme ssd enclosure $22 + shipping

That's exactly why I ordered one, not really expecting it to work, but for the price I'll be alright if it can only operate as an external drive. If it does work it will also operate as external storage... with 8 U.2 slots, because I have a PCIe switch card and hot swap unit sitting around unused.

Water cooling of 0.5-1 kW processors

That's not a miracle, that's a relatively low efficiency because the unit is fairly small, it's just that 4500W of heat transfer isn't really all that much as far as changing the temperature of a room. The specs could of course be a little off because in reality those things vary with...

Water cooling of 0.5-1 kW processors

SEER is some other number that I haven't bothered to understand, and it's usually somewhat higher, combined efficiency is the heat pump COP (this is just a ratio of power in to heat moved, easy to understand) minus some other power consumption, probably the fan and electronics.

Water cooling of 0.5-1 kW processors

I don't know exactly what's available but I have noticed that window units and mini splits have gotten much more efficient and cheaper in the last few years, I tend to assume that carries over into portable units, but maybe not. I searched briefly and found some random 8000BTU Frigidaire unit...
