EU Microsoft Project Olympus Dual Epyc 7003 Boards - 87,12€ each

I've been looking for an affordable not too old epyc server for months now. Besides the cpus and ram (32 core one around 420 eur new here, not worth to ebay for same price), what else do you need? Heatsinks ? I don't see them in the picture/text of the whole server. So normal SP3 heatsinks ? And...

    Kioxia KCD61LUL7T68 CD6-R Firmware udpate?

I also have a kcd6xlul7t68 drive. Googling gives you this: https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/softwaredetails?language=en_US&collectionId=MTX-2e5a37814cc1401a&tab=releaseNotes Extracted the rpm and ran the setup binary, but flashing fails, even though it recognizes the drive and says all...

[WTB] Very low health 1TB+ SSDs for cheap/free

Somebody here offered to donate 24TB of ssds that are well past their expected TBW (so basically 0% health), but still working, after reading a post I made asking if such things exist. So I figured why not make a thread so it's more visible, maybe we can save some flash storage from the bin. My...

    EXPIRED Ebay - 40% health 3.84TB Toshiba SAS SSD - £80

Thank you luckylinux, I was already aware of the benefits of zfs with special device for metadata and small files. I am going with draid for a larger hdd array and will have such a config, but without read/write caches, which I don't think are necessary when your i/o bottleneck is the 1-2gbps...

    EXPIRED Ebay - 40% health 3.84TB Toshiba SAS SSD - £80

Oh wow that's quite awful. so 4x ~8w (semi load) =~ 32W, as much as enterprise hdds. So 10tb+ hdds still rule for power efficiency per TB served, if iops/read speed is not too demanding. Unless of course you can afford those 60+TB ssds. It seems that getting very low health ssds for cheap is...

    EXPIRED Ebay - 40% health 3.84TB Toshiba SAS SSD - £80

I put 4 in basket, it comes to ~104.5 eur per piece with shipping and VAT. For 119 eur there's 4TB nvme gen4 chinese ones available here, orico, fikwot etc. So I guess this is a good deal only if you plan on making a big array and have a SAS enclosure ? This would have been a nice deal if not...

Help me pick an enclosure(s) for 80 drives

Are you kidding ? I said budget is $2k not $10k. As for diy, I'd need to invest a big amount of time to get something like that through the end, and risk not being succesful. I can 3d print or order stuff cut at a CNC, but that seems way too complex to achieve. I'll just go with 4 bay modular...

Help me pick an enclosure(s) for 80 drives

Well, in the meantime I have decided against enclosures, as they're a hassle to find, expensive, noisy without mods, risk of needing troubleshooting, firmware updates, and other unforeseeable issues. I've decided to instead go the 3d printed/diy hdd enclosures + LSI 9201-16e or equivalent...

Help me pick an enclosure(s) for 80 drives

So I got some Seagate 12TB drives quite a while ago in a good trade for me, but have not been able to decide on how to put them to use yet. There's about 80 of them, most of them still unused. I think my budget is around $2k tops. I am from Europe. I was dreaming of something like this: *NEW*...

Intel S2600CP motherboar - 10 beeps on POST.

Hello, first post on this forums. I have a few Intel s2600CP boards from Natex, and one of them refuses to work. When I first started it, it gave me a beep error sequence I don't remember, after which I thought to clear the CMOS. Now I get the normal POST OK beep pattern after which I...
