EU [WTB] Supermicro H12SSL or ASROCK ROMED8-2T| 1x EPYC 7xx3 with 32C/64T or better | 256Gb ECC RAM

The budget is going to be tough here for a dual socket system such as this because the motherboard alone often costs as much as your entire budget. The single socket H12 motherboards are more common and cost less. A dual socket system is only beneficial here if your workload needs more than 64...

    E-ATX/SSI-EEB MB for Dual 192 cores - AMD 9965 + MB manufacturers

As sockets become larger it only becomes more difficult to find multisocket motherboards in standardized form factors. With such high core density and memory channels, multisocket platforms are becoming less common. My main machine I am using now is probably the last dual socket machine (Dual...

Cost effective way to get on EPYC

Second generation EPYC 7002 offers the best bang for your buck with full PCIe 4.0 and DDR4 3200 compatibility. It is a platform that is modern enough for the heavy workloads of today and available at an afforable price on the secondary market. The motherboards and servers designed for second...

    CHASSIS FOR Supermicro MBD-H12DSI-NT6-B

If using dual 64-Core processors on this board it needs to be installed in a server rack chassis with high pressure airflow. I have this board in a Corsair 900D with dual-32 core processors. The VRMs run very hot under full load, I wouldn't try any higher TDP CPU without better airflow which...

    Supermicro H12SSL-i, H12SSL-C, H12SSL-NT, H12SSL-CT boards - notes, experiences

The boot times on these boards aren't too bad as long as there aren't too many NVMe drives. From power on to the Windows Desktop takes 90 seconds on my H12SSL-CT.

    Lots of Optical Drives

I should have been more specific, I have gotten optical drives to work on SAS1 and SAS2 controllers but not SAS3 controllers such as the 3008

    Lots of Optical Drives

Optical drives rarely work on LSI SAS cards

    Dual EPYC 7B13 overheating issue

I could see that these would run a little hotter with a higher TDP. These are still far cooler and more efficient when compared to a consumer grade CPU of the same or higher TDP.

    Dual EPYC 7B13 overheating issue

That appears to be running awfully hot! What do the temperatures show in other operating systems? I have a machine with the same CPU coolers used for Monero mining and it never runs hotter than 55C even with 225 Watt processors.

Installing Client/Desktop Versions of Windows on Systems with AMD EPYC Processors

The limitation of 64 threads per group is no longer present in newer versions of Windows. Windows will treat this setup as two physical processors each with 96 Cores/192 Threads. Prior to Windows 11/Server 2022, this particular configuration would appear as six processors. Most programs are only...

Installing Client/Desktop Versions of Windows on Systems with AMD EPYC Processors

Windows 11 no longer uses processor groups so a 96 Core processor will only be treated as one. Eariler versions of Windows would treat a 96 Core processor as three processors. Since this limitation no longer exists the Pro SKU of Windows 11 is enough to work with this processor. If you need more...

    AMD EPYC 7302p+ Supermicro H11SSL-i version 2

That's strange, I've seen the HDD LED work even before I've attached any SATA drives to my H12DSi-NT6

micro sd card reader on H11dsi MB

It does not function as a normal SD card reader as it is reserved for IPMI. To use a regular SD Sard slot with this motherboard connect an SD Card reader to the USB header or a PCI Express slot.

    AMD EPYC 7302p+ Supermicro H11SSL-i version 2

The Broadcom 10G Ethernet runs about 74C no matter how much load is on the network even in a large, well ventilated chassis. The temperatures are the same across all Supermicro H12 boards.

Windows Server 2022/Windows 11 did away with processor grouping

Does Windows 10 and earlier actually treat the 65+ thread count CPUs as mutliple sockets in the form of lisensing? Or does it just appear as multiple sockets?

Windows Server 2022/Windows 11 did away with processor grouping

This should make a big difference in less optimized programs. I have a dual 32-Core machine, most of the time only one CPU is being utilized by a particular program.

Whats the deal with U.2 enterprise SSDs selling so cheap?

Supermicro eStore also has NVMe U.2 drives for good prices. I much prefer the 2.5" drives compared to the m.2 drives that overheat.
