Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

Stupid question.. is it possible to bridge two ports on the 6610... I'm trying to simplify my network a little.. my primary gateway uses a dual gig card passed through via pci-passthrough. I am trying to migrate off that vmware server, so I want to connect my incoming gig connection (FIOS) to...

It’s not so bad, if you have appropriate dust collection, which I do on most of my tools, except the CNC router... that thing is a dust storm

[Free] - HP C3000 Blade Chassis with blades and Supermicro 833 Chassis with A1SRi-2558F - DC, Maryland, Virginia area

Edit: All stuff gone. Thanks to everyone who helped find it a good home. edit: Rack and Supermicro stuff have been taken, only the blade server left. If free stuff posts are against the rules (I read them, did not see anything), I'll delete it (or mods delete it). No really, it's all free...

HP Microserver Gen 8 BIOS update?

Normally they require some sort of contract or warranty, but due to the recent number of critical intel bugs, they have released the BIOS updates for anyone.. for now.

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

Curious, if they are all in one setups, even 3, why are you using so many ports. I have 2 DL360ps with 2 port 10GB intel, and 4x1GB flexlom, and 2 DL380ps with the same. I'm only using 3 ports per machine (2 10GB ports and 1 1GB for backup connection to the switch), plus 2 ports for my...

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

This would be pretty much every HP server... I have 2 DL360pG8's and 2 DL380pG8's on top of 2 icx switches.. and it sounds like a jumbo jet on takeoff when the rack comes up after a power failure (my UPS can only run them for about 15 min) I keep the rack in the garage, so the noise is less of...

[ESX 7.0]Internet not working anymore after VeeAM backup of PFSense

How is your pfsense setup.. specifically the network cards. I have the exact same setup, I have 2 vsphere servers, both on HP DL360pG8s, and also using Veeam, and I don't have any issues. I should note that my pfsense instance is on my 6.7, I just updated vcenter to 7, I have not moved my...

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

Issues with 4x breakout cables... I think... Well.. at 187 pages.. I'm pretty sure I missed a ton, but my search turned up nothing. I have two 40G (4x10G) breakout cables, one is cisco (copper), one is arista (fiber) , but they both exhibit the same problem. The line will drop, and not come...

    Ransomware via unsecure/default IPMI

You IPMI setup does not need to be public facing to be affected. Think of SQL Slammer and similar worms back in the day (yes I am old..ish), those systems were not publicly accessible (well some were, there is always that outlier crowd of stupid people who put everything on the internet....)...

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

Heh.. uhh.. no.. That is why it is turned off and sitting in the corner of my Garage while I try to figure out how to sell a 300 pound brick.. My wife did not like the $300 a month power biill... Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

Try the 571, it is newer, Solar Flair based 10G card still being sold by HP. I just picked one up from ebay for 35$ (I got the FLR version since I have HP servers, but they have a regular non FLR pci version). I'll know more when I get it, should arrive tomorrow, but it is still actively...

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

I figured out my problem.. I think.. It appears to be the breakout cable.. something funky is going on.. at least I hope it is the cable. I picked up a Cisco 40x10 breakout copper one which should arrive tomorrow. Guess I'll figure out whether it was the cable or not.

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

Quick question.. might beed to post this in the VMWare section, but I'll check here first. What is the hashing algorithm for VMware for the 6610 LAGs. Trunk type shows hashed based, but I have a ton of options when setting up the vDS, normally I picked source and destination based IP...

    X9SRL-F w/E5-1650v2 or X9DRH-iTF w/dual-E5-2680v2 for FreeNAS?

Make the update and send me the old stuff for free :) Honestly, I doubt you will see any performance gains, at least none noticeable. I have mine running on 32GB inside a VM with 2 HBAs assigned via pci passthrough, feeding around 10 other machines (via iscsi, mix of VMs and bare hardware, mix...
