Fujitsu Futro S920 Thin Client as opnsense firewall

@neuralreticulator Hello! o) I'm not sure, when I tried to enable PCI-Gen2 mode recently, I was not able to find/download the binaries anymore. o( The only thing that was available and seemingly worked was the GUI based windows BIOS settings tool from Fujitsu. This has an option to be clicked...

Fujitsu Futro S920 Thin Client as opnsense firewall

The cheap (4EUR) PCIe-4x flexible, noname ribbon cable type of "riser" solved the problem for me, not sure anyone posted a picture of it yet, so..

Yes, I am talking about mini PCIe port (there are adapters to connect basically "anything PCIe" to it) - it is a regular PCIe 1x slot in different shape.

I can't think of any reason the TPU thing should not work in the mini PCIe connector (I'm no expert in PCI specs though, keep that in mind.. o). I tested a full size GPU in that mini PCIe connector recently and an NVME drive, these two devices worked as expected (for me at least).

Weird, there is indeed some kind of geolocation block going on.. I just recognized the small text on the error page:

This looks promising! o) Thank you, I did not try for myself yet unfortunately, but I will get to it eventually.. o) The links you posted to the adapters, they do not work for me, I don't know why. I even tried copying the item ids from your urls into random items I clicked on aliexpress, but to...

Fujitsu Futro S920 Thin Client as opnsense firewall

Mhh.. 900 and something MB/s is what I already get here in Gen1 mode (using CrystalDiskMark on Windows), I will test and post my results with the BIOS setting adjusted, but not within the next few days unfortunately, since a lot of stuff is in the queue. I'm not quite sure yet what is going on...

Fujitsu Futro S920 Thin Client as opnsense firewall

Ok, thank you very much, I will try this out! o) There is no table or some kind of command to actually find/get all accepted values for a setting, or is there? You found "0152, Balanced-Low" for the "01B7, PSPP Policy (PCIe Speed Power Policy)" setting and just tried "0151, Balanced-High"...

Fujitsu Futro S920 Thin Client as opnsense firewall

Hello fanoush, very interesting! o) I also dived into the PCIe port speed issue and can confirm, the 4x slot will run at Gen1 speed by default (which "only" gives around 900 MB/s with the NVMe drive I connected, which is a 4x PCIe-Gen3 card). If the port would run at Gen3 speed, read/write...

Fujitsu Futro S920 Thin Client as opnsense firewall

Thank you, I ordered the same riser and some riser cables just like you. To make the 90 degree riser fit, we obviously need to pull out the hack saw.. o) Maybe there is wiggle room and some cheating is possible, I need to look at this on my own with the parts right by my side, but your pictures...

Fujitsu Futro S920 Thin Client as opnsense firewall

Some info about the little sister or brother of the s920, the Fujitsu Futro s720 with the AMD GX-217GA SOC (DualCore @ 1.66Ghz): The s720 does not have FAN-Header, PCIe-Slot, Power-Connector on the board, but it is basically the same machine as an s920 (it's a bit slower). It also only has 1...

Fujitsu Futro S920 Thin Client as opnsense firewall

I will reply to myself as well, just to add to all the available information about fujitso futro s920 and s720 (and the no display problem). The issue can be reproduced with certain monitors or displays, some just don't seem to make the Futro give a picture, it might also depend on the cable and...

Fujitsu Futro S920 Thin Client as opnsense firewall

Hi folks! o) I need to ask you S920 pro's for help. I bought a bunch of s920 (GA222) and s720 (GA217).. I cannot get a picture on display-port or DVI output, if a LAN cable is NOT connected. If I connect LAN cable and turn on/reboot, boot logo, BIOS post, linux console, desktop comes up. If no...
