I’m a big fan of the HP 5400 modular switches. Get the cards you need (1g, 10g, 40g) and upgrade as necessary. Extremely reliable, easy redundancy, and support is fast and good.
Their CLI is a piece of cake to use.

Interesting, I have not. All drives are on SC60 firmware. I'll give the FW upgrade a shot but I haven't noticed any noise from my side. Then again, my SC847 isn't silent...
