Is there anything like this, but for 3.5” drives? Specifically, something with an SFF-8087 on the back?

Any downsides to using a forward breakout cable? I’ve used those with SATA drives, but never SAS.
I'm not opposed to Frankenstein. Do the LFF cages use regular ATX power connectors? One issue I've found in the past is that those cages used HP proprietary pinouts. Any links you can share?
Is there a recommended SAS2 (or SAS3) backplane for DIY workstation builds?
4 drives preferred. 8 would be awesome (if that's possible)
3.5" drives preferred. If not, then 2.5 would be interesting
Installed within regular ATX or large ATX case
ATX or CEB motherboard cases, like the Asus X99-E...
I tried to purchase, but received a notice that "The seller's store is closed for vacation. Check back later."
Is there a way to order now, even if it takes awhile to ship?
Is anyone able to get Chelsio T420-CR working on Windows Server 2016? I keep getting the error:
This device cannot start (Code 10)
STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE
I have tried several different versions of drivers.
I was in the market for a disk shelf. Lenovo SA120 would be preferable, but is like $500 by the time you buy caddies. I just didn't expect this to be a SAS1 expander.
Is SAS1 that bad?
I think the eBay description was wrong - these use SAS1 expanders at 3Gb/s not 6Gb/s. See my other post here: https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/lsi-sas9200-16e-slow-performance-using-8-drives.27454/
I'm new to DAS hardware so am not sure whether this is acceptable. For spinning...
Is there any practical way to upgrade the SAS controller to upgrade these from SAS 3Gb/s to SAS 6Gb/s? Or is that even necessary for spinning rust drives?
Thanks for your patience. I am obviously still learning, and have much more to learn.
The DAS has two ESM modules. Each ESM has two ports (one IN and one OUT, like you mentioned).
Is it possible to run two cables to the DAS to double throughput?
HBA Port #1 ==> DAS ECM #1 (IN)
HBA Port...
Now I'm really scratching my head. Any clues? EBay listing shows 6GB/s (which obviously isn't trustworthy). However IBM's website contemplates both 3 and 6GB/s speeds.

I don't think a 47 ohm resistor would do anything. The fan is 12Vdc at 2.95 Amp. Assuming the "normal" operating voltage is 9Vdc at 900 mA, then I think we would need a 2 ohm resistor capable of dissipating a little over 1W. Do you agree?
I can't seem to find anything on ebay with that...
