@MiniKnight netdata is awesome but the OP will need to put it on a cheap VM outside of his network. @cij it's a good monitoring tool and it can run on a very cheap VPS.
If you are running Windows, stak-xmr-cpu is the best bet now. If you want to run in a HV VM then you can use docker but virtualized performance is always lower. That's why you're seeing people here use Linux and KVM for VMs then mining on Docker containers on the base Linux install.

Proxmox's KVM is Debian so I'd put that squarely in the realm of a well supported KVM OS.
