Yet another quest for 10Gbps routing capable mini PC

routing/NAT just got backported to openwrt-snapshot from 6.9: https://github.com/glassd00r/openwrt/commit/98ddfbc56a7ffd5afef7776244998030675faa24 Not sure if tunnel acceleration will happen in mainline, though (but since my ISP uses straight 10G Ethernet I have no dog in that race).

BTW, Sinovoip claims it will never use more than 10W without additional hw

Yes but no top on it

Idling at 44C actively cooled (silent), 55ish passively in an unventilated utility closet Not sure which governor is currently active, may well not be downclocking

Yet another quest for 10Gbps routing capable mini PC

Mine idles at just about 5W from 12V USB C with a FS 10G 10km optics and a 10G DAC going to a switch. It stays below 10W even if I load it. Obviously using 10G copper, NVMe or god forbid WiFi7 would boost that, perhaps substantially.

I have two Dell S2722qc on my desk, tried both HDMI inputs to DisplayPort on the CWWK, did not work. So I guess another DP adapter is the next step...

Yet another quest for 10Gbps routing capable mini PC

It does hw assisted NAT in one direction (either) at 10G easily and the hardware for bidirectional 10G is there, just the drivers need to catch up. Mainly people use openwrt but I believe it is in mainline 6.9 so technically a lot is possible.

Not technically a mini pc, but I really like my BPI R4 in that role. 5ish watt is hard to beat.

    CWWK/Topton/... Nxxx quad NIC router

Somehow my CWWK n305 only outputs a signal on HDMI, with DP to HDMI nothing seems to happen (Dell screen just goes to standby). Bad DP to HDMI adapter or do I need to change something in BIOS?

My SSD is getting fairly warm - can anyone recommend a heatsink to get from AE?

    CWWK/Topton/... Nxxx quad NIC router

I suspected it will end up that way... I presume lanes 1-4 are the main NVMe (seeing that they are bonded in the BIOS of mine), so guess I'll start at the higher ones :) The other thing that bother me is SSD temperatures. I got a Crucial P3 and sensors show it goes up to the low 70C...

How did you disable the LAN ports?

So finally got round to trying out my n305-v2 (I think it's v2 because it has 2 red USB ports...). 32GB crucial stick was detected as was the dirt cheap 2TB Crucial T3. Still need to torture it a bit.

    CWWK/Topton/... Nxxx quad NIC router

Fair enough. In my case, fiber terminates in my home, after that it is all my stuff (even the optics) so it's really up to me (as I have bad mobile reception I do have a spare fiber router in a box, call me paranoid, reminds me I should get a sprare optic too :-D ). I can see the HA angle (I...

    CWWK/Topton/... Nxxx quad NIC router

I think that's what the chipset could do, it's fairly unlikely it has enough uplink to actually achieve 20gbits, no?

Unless you have two or more uplinks to different ISPs there will always be a single point of failure, so what's the point...

After the sale? Pretty normal on AE... They wake up if you start refund procedure :). I guess it's too early for that though

FWIW, my cwwk n305 shipped this morning.

Usually easy to spot though - if tracking is not updated fishy stuff is going on. Have had that about two or three times in literally hundreds of Ali orders over the years. Between that and occasionally wrong deliveries / DoA I always got my money back.
