    Wrong. Cumulus doesn’t need a license since years, I think version 4.4 or something (we’re now at 5.9.1 with 5.10 to be released soon)

    Just install stock (Mellanox) Onyx. As far as I know, no port limits are enforced. Or even better: Install Cumulus Linux.

    Oh and another warning: On ONIE based switches, DO NOT modify the System FRU / Chassis FRU EEPROM like you do in the SX6012 conversion guide. It will break the ONIE checksum and cause a lot of issues.
