    Arista DCS-7050TX-64-F - eBay US

    Also are these mountable to only 2 posts (in a regular 4 post rack) or are they too long for that? Main thing keeping me from picking one is lack of OS availability, I think?

    Arista DCS-7050TX-64-F - eBay US

    I read that CloudVision (Arista management platform) uses honor based licensing but also "you will however break some EULA so after a while you need to pay up for the features you use. This also means that there are no licensing numbers to put in anywhere - the licensing is purely a paper...

    Supermicro X9/X10/X11 Fan Speed Control

    what @peter_s has said is also another thing worthy of consideration, but i feel like i set my fan thresholds to the typical 225 values that you see and i still see fans ramp back up until the OS is booted. id thought that the thresholds not only throw an error in the IPMI but revert the fan...

    Supermicro X9/X10/X11 Fan Speed Control

    that seems intended and just how SM baseboard firmware is designed, the only way to get around it is to just leave the machine running or not send an IPMI command until the OS is booted using some ESXi startup script. i have observed the same behavior on other supermicro x10 boards.

    SE Houston, TX :: Nutanix / SuperMicro NXS2U4NS24G600, 4 Nodes, x8 Xeon Silver 4114, 24x2.5"

    bumping to mention, I learned this has support for x4 NVMe U.2 devices in the front for each node, so x16 U.2 NVMe, pretty slick. I initially thought it was a SATA only platform, but the backplane supports SATA/SAS3/NVMe (the daughterboard in each node is a S3008-N4 which in SM nomenclature...

    Supermicro 826, X10SRW, 256GB DDR4 - $160 + Shipping

    Actually having an issue with one of the systems I bought (that I mentioned above) - going to reach out and see what they can do. Unfortunately I already threw the boxes away, but this would've been caught if they actually tested the systems which is something I don't think they do consistently...

    Supermicro 826, X10SRW, 256GB DDR4 - $160 + Shipping

    I've purchased from minos multiple times, and have had a similar experience. In that, they use one unit and don't inspect others super closely. But they've made it right. I bought two 826 chassis that I expected both to have a SAS3 expander backplane, one came with SAS2. They refunded me for the...

    E5-2696 v4 22core CPU for $150 or less

    How do you disable mitigations on non-Windows based platforms? Do you also have to disable mitigations in Windows and Linux virtual machines as well? I noticed there's some SuperMicro BIOS updates that have updates for spectre meltdown, is there a way to disable them that isn't just running an...

    E5-2696 v4 22core CPU for $150 or less

    Has anyone noticed any appreciable performance impacts of the Spectre Meltdown updates/microcodes on v4 chips like E5-2680v4? I want to be able to use these chips in proofing stuff like Nutanix CE, vSAN, TrueNas Scale without worrying about degraded performance from the CPU.
