    H11dsi won't boot from m2 ssd

I have an H11dsi motherboard, it won't boot from the m2 ssd on the motherboard. I updated the BIOS to support my epyc processors and now it doesn't see the m2 SSD. I assume this is due to the BIOS being cleared. Anyone know what options I need to set to get this to boot from the M2 ssd? Thanks,

Flashing stock Mellanox firmware to OEM (EMC) ConnectX-3 IB/Ethernet dual-port QSFP adapter

With these cards if I buy a QSFP+ breakout cable to 4 SFP's, how do the connections work? Do I setup a lagg bond on the switch with the four SFP's? Does the NIC see all four SFP breakouts as separate connections? I don't have a cable yet, and have never used one so forgive my ignorance.

Flashing stock Mellanox firmware to OEM (EMC) ConnectX-3 IB/Ethernet dual-port QSFP adapter

I connected my NAS to the same ports, with the same cables. I was able to get it working I had to get QSFP to SFP adapters and use SFP's, per this article ( Using a 40GbE (QSFP+) NIC with a 10GbE Switch (SFP+) (servethehome.com). I am not terribly familiar with 40gb Ethernet, however I was...

Flashing stock Mellanox firmware to OEM (EMC) ConnectX-3 IB/Ethernet dual-port QSFP adapter

I flashed a MCX54A-QCBT to the FCCT and everything went fine, it reports both ports are ETH but I cannot get lights on the NIC when connected to my Ubiquiti 10gb switch. I have verified with another server that the cables are good and the ports on the Ubiquiti are good. Anyone have any ideas...

8 port 10gig ethernet switch with dual sfp+ ports

Your best bet is to probably find an enterprise switch such as a brocade on ebay.

Mellanox cards that can support 40gb

So I updated the firmware and I cannot get carrier light from the card. I confirmed port 1 is in ethernet mode. I am using AOI QSFP+ modules and trying to connect to my 10gb Ubiquiti switch. The manual says it should be able to run at 10gb. The OS (XCP-NG) shows the card as recognized. Could...

Mellanox cards that can support 40gb

What about the TCBT variant? Also, if I buy the FCBT I assume that means I would only need to flash with the latest firmware? Thanks

Mellanox cards that can support 40gb

Hi all, Can someone point me to the Mellanox card models that can be flashed to 40GB? I need 3 of them for my XCP-NG and TrueNAS servers. I searched, but I'm having an issue finding model numbers. Thanks,

    NH-U14s with H11DSI

I'm also considering liquid cooling. Deepcool makes several models with TR4/SP3 support. Anyone have experience with those?

    NH-U14s with H11DSI

Hi all, I'm building an Epyc server with the Supermicro H11DSI board. Anyone know if two Noctua NH-u14 coolers will fit on a Supermicro H11DSI?

Multi-NVMe (m.2, u.2) adapters that do not require bifurcation

Any reason to buy a card with 8747 over 8724? I'm planning to use 4x NVMe. My motherboard has 16x slots, I'm just wondering if it matters performance wise?

    Epyc to replace E5-2630

I'm not sure why that didn't occur to me, as I actually have one of those in my TrueNAS server... Too many things on my mind I guess.

    Epyc to replace E5-2630

My current MB also doesn't have NVME slots, just SATA ports. I know there is some improvement with SSD on SATA, but not as much as NVME. Seems like a SATA 4TB SSD would be a waste and I'd be better off getting a new MB and using NVME.

    Epyc to replace E5-2630

I'm considering NVME/SSD. I just figure if I'm going to spend that much to get 4TB of solid state, I might as well look at upgrading the processing too.

    Epyc to replace E5-2630

I added another 16 GB to "balance" the RAM, it doesn't seem to have much of a difference. So, if I look at rebuilding with Epyc or Threadripper, is there any reason to go with one over the other, besides the obvious benefit of Epyc being able to be used on multi socket MB's?

Likely not. Do you have a reference on how to do that? Thanks

Power usage isn't a huge concern unless it's double the power or more.
