I don't think it takes 10 minutes to reboot maybe 3 minutes, but I live in the city and our power does not go out often. Oh, I think this is a security feature. I assume they are downloading code from the internet so it can't be permanently hacked.
I have never run a Ruckus wireless unit, so I...
i have been running these for a little while and they seem good no complaints. I may add one more AP when I have some time after the holidays. I have an old home large rectangle home 3200+ sq ft for a total of 3 APs.
And yes, I run VLANs using a small Cisco SG350-10P layer 3 switch. I have 2...
Just create a VLAN and call it guest. It will give you more control in the end. You can lockout the new VLAN to where it does not have access to the rest of the network unless you want to share a printer or something. More control.
I just ordered a couple of Cisco 150ax wireless APs for my home network. They are only $105 each. They are very easy to setup and you can create 1 virtual AP as the controller is built-in.
And free firmware updates for the life of the product.
Maximum number of associated wireless clients...
I am not worrying about it right now as I don't have any clients. At some point I will upgrade my wireless. I have a couple of Cisco 2.5 gigabit ethernet wireless APs but not 6GHz. I still don't have a 2.5 gigabit switch. I run L3 switching and the Cisco is still a little pricey for home use.
There is a difference between having wireless and having high speed wireless. An easy test is to turn off your 2.4 GHz wireless and see how well your wireless works now. I have done this. I ran my house 3200+ sqft in the past using only 5 GHz only in the past before 6 GHz. It takes a lot...
If you don't know what single point setup is on the Cisco small business wireless APs are then I am not sure you had the multiple APs setup well. Single point setup is how you create one virtual AP with all the wireless APs so they can all act as 1 big AP.
T-Mobile has a local box you plug into a switch for extended cell coverage for a deposit which you get back after returning their box. I don't remember the name as it has been a few years since I installed one. I set one up in a small real estate office.
Do you have your CBW240AC APs setup with...
If you create all the VLANs on pfsense using its gateway then your L3 switch is no longer L3 routing. pfsense is doing the L3 routing. You need to setup route statements on pfsense that point to your L3 switch for the switch networks which are not defined on pfsense. You also have to open the...
I never stated you were using multiple transit network. Maybe I am not understanding you. I was a network guy before I retired. If you are using an access port for your client then he is not involved in the network and your client is not aware of VLANs as he is just talking to the IP assigned...
I build networks so workstations don't know anything about VLANs. The workstations just receive IP addresses from DHCP. Why would you want to involve a workstation in your network? I consider the workstation a user of the network not part of it.
Cisco small business switches have some 2.5 gig model switches in the SG350X line and probably the new Cisco CBS switch line. I have not seen any cheap yet.
I have used a 24 bit mask to connect pfsense and a Cisco L3 switch. The trick is to use the L3 switch as the gateway for all clients on the /24 mask not the router as using the router's gateway will not work. The client's traffic will forward to the L3 switch where all local networks are...
As I said the simple setup is do all your local routing in the L3 switch and use pfsense for internet traffic only with 1 connection.
This setup also allows you to use multiple L3 switches deep in your network. Using DHCP on pfsense does not.
If your routing was working correctly, you could ping.
You have configuration error somewhere. The simple fix is 1 connection. My way is creating a VLAN with a /30 mask between pfsense and the L3 switch. Route all traffic across this VLAN. I ran pfsense using a Cisco L3 switch for over a...
