That's strange. I remember OPN sense had my CPU temps on the dashboard widget. I don't recall if I had to install extra packages for that (currently not using OPNsense or PFSense). I believe memtest has a serial boot option.
Just a note that this doesn't have integrated graphics. E3-1xx5 v5/V6 will have integrated graphics in case you don't have a discreet graphics card or a low spec video chipset.
Dang that's a great deal. It's crazy expensive in LA. I looked at UCLA's surplus and saw a few expensive listing for very outdated hardware like a laptop with an i7 3520M /8gb ram/128gb SSD for $900. USC doesn't sell to the public. It's just California, maybe. I remember randomly perusing a yard...
I believe that's the stock operating system that comes with the system. As far as I know, there isn't a newer bios than 4.6.5.4 (build 02/12/2014 19:05:01). There are also a few people talking about this on the netgate forums with confirmation of no newer firmware.
Those temps are from the fans reversed as intake. Also, as quiet as they get, they will get annoying over time. I had to move it out of my office to another room after a few days of trying to put up with it.

This is a note for anyone that has or is buying an HP Prodesk 600 G4 Mini. I have been using one for a year now as Frigate NVR server (didn't need display or sound) but today I refashioned it into a Chrome OS Flex and discovered that there was no sound via the DisplayPort. I tested it against...
I always find it really odd how they price their transceivers. Sometimes I see it listed on their site for $20, then I go on their eBay store and it's $7, sometimes it's even cheaper than that. The last time I bought some it was for my Mikrotik router and a Netgear switch, came out to be $12...
I've been using 10gtek cables (10G and 25G SFP+, and a few 1000BASE-SX Multimode transceivers) and they've been reliable. I've never had compatibility issues with them.
Do you guys think it would make sense to mirror the two 58GB drives and assign them as metadata vdev to a ZFS pool (performance wise)? Curious, I also couldn't find the option in TrueNAS's interface to also keep the metadata on the pool itself in case I need to remove them. The last time I tried...
I was thinking that the WIFI punch out slot could fit an ethernet port with a 3d printed mount. The 5070 ethernet expansion for the 5070 is an A+E card that goes into the WIFI slot so it might be doable. But I'll know for sure once I have it on hand.
The thing though is that recording with Frigate uses ffmpeg and utilizes gpu acceleration. The integrated graphics have improved but ya, maybe not 6. Forgot to mention that this is my estimate with 1080p streams. 2k streams are more demanding.
Yea it's passively cooled from what I can tell from the disassembly video. I don't believe there's an extended version of this unit like the 5070, a bit unfortunate. I bought one to play around with. I'll let you know about the thermals once I replace my current Frigate setup.
Not a lot of expandability options but relatively cheap. Bare spec unit with 4GB RAM and 32GB eMMC without wireless. Might be a good replacement for anyone using the Wyse 5070 for general homelab hosting or an emulation unit. I can see this used with two Coral TPUs (A+E key wifi slot and B+M key...
