    Optical cable to my PC

Since I was partially the reason for that, I'll try to provide a direct answer to your question here! You've got a TP-Link T1700G-28TQ with 4 SFP+ slots. You also have a PC with a Connect-X 3 card with two SFP+ slots. You want to establish a 10Gbit link between them. They are not located in the...

    Optical cable to my PC

Sorry, I mistyped: the ICX7250-24P (not 7150-24P) has 8 SFP+ ports. Only 4 four can be used with DACs in most circumstances, this is documented in the user's manual and is clearly stated that the limitation is due to the presence (or absence) of retimers. The SFP+ plugs on the ends of DACs are...

    Optical cable to my PC

I don't think it's helpful to refer to DACs as 'optical or copper, with pre-terminated transceivers'. DACs are copper only, and don't have transceivers, which is why they can only be used in ports with retimers (if the cable is longer than 1m). For example on the ICX7150-24P only four of the...

How to pick a SFP+ Adapter

I recently purchased an HP 560SFP+ dual-port card; it's working fine with Brocade-coded AOCs and was under US$50. I believe it's the same chipset as the Intel X520.

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

I've got a spare Brocade cable (came out of a 7250-24P box) still in its original bag, would be happy to ship it to you for a reasonable price if you are interested. It should work with any USB-DE9 adapter with a male connector (I use a Tripp-Lite adapter because it's what I had on hand). PM me...

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

It's probably possible to flash the bootloader using an internal serial or JTAG header, if you want to give that a try.

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

This sort of thing is what VRFs were invented for. You create a VRF for each 'virtual routing table' you need, with the proper routes to external networks, and assign VLANs to the VRFs they need. The issue here is not the existence of different gateways, it's the existence of different routing...

Looking for a recommendation for a CPU and motherboard for a power-efficient (at idle) home NAS

I bought a used (from thread on this site) H11SSL-i and EPYC 7232P combination, populated it with 128GB of DRAM, and its idle power consumption is relatively low (around 80W, including SSDs and one spinning rust drive).

What is a proper way to support/suspend cat cables in my drop ceiling?

I have to say that 'ceiling' and 'cat cables' gave me a laugh :)

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

Just another thing to consider... here in the US for some time a major homebuilder (Lennar) was pre-installing 7150-C12Ps and a single Ruckus AP in many of the homes they sold, to 'make things easier' for homebuyers. The Ruckus forums are full of posts from people who have no idea what to do...

Subnet, routing and gateway: Basic question

I think you're going to find it difficult to achieve all of this. "all clients on the same subnet" and "multiple routers" is a complicated thing to do, if it's even possible at all. The simplest thing to do is to just have separate left and right subnets, without trying to gather them into a...

Subnet, routing and gateway: Basic question

Traffic between devices in the blue box should stay in the blue box by default, with no special configuration required. It won't matter if those devices are using addresses which are part of a subnet which extends (at L2) out of the blue box and into the other areas.

Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

Thanks for that; I'm about to replace a stack with a new stack, and will be using only L2 features on the new stack, so had considered using the SPS firmware instead of SPR.

    [WTB][US] 2x Ruckus ICX 7250-24P (possible trade for 3x ICX 7150-C12P)

It's time for a network upgrade; I've got a stack of 3x ICX 7150-C12P with 3d-printed rack mount brackets (2 in use, one as spare), but I need 10G ports for connecting routers and NAS. I want to replace that stack with a stack of 2x ICX 7250-24P. If you've got a couple of units you'd be willing...
