enterprise m.2 nvme drive greater than 1.9tb?

Just an update in case anyone else is going down this path. No one has more than 1 unit of these drives in stock with no eta on more units coming in. I'd just upgrade the server hardware to a platform with better nvme support except, no stock on that anywhere either. Situation is so bad Dell...

enterprise m.2 nvme drive greater than 1.9tb?

Hi there. I am on the hunt for some m.2 nvme drives with a storage capacity greater than 1.9tb. Need PLP and at least 1dwpd endurance. So far all I can find is the micron 7300 pro at 3.8tb, but it is out of stock everywhere (I bought one on newegg for testing and the seller messaged me to...

Supermicro X11-SCL IF stuck at boot-process Code 2F

I have had the same problem but different x11 board and cpu. I contacted supermicro support and they got it sorted for me (turns out in my case, the ram model was 1 digit off, my old man eyes didn't notice and when my vendor shipped the correct ram, all was well).

    Asrockrack X470D4U and zen3 / Ryzen 5900X support

yah my experience with asrocks beta bios was so bad it broke the IPMI completely. Trying to rma now.

    ASRock Rack X570D4U

Yup, it boots and I used the socflash to reflash the bmc. Unfortunately, it failed. I reloaded the actual BIOS fw as well, hoping it would fix the issue and didn't. Sadly, still waiting on a reply from Asrock.

    ASRock Rack X570D4U

Yup. I understand that. You DO need to update the bios to support the new CPU's. Which I did. However, once that is updated, the BMC is no longer functional. Which is why I tried to get the BMC firmware updated separately. But sadly that failed. I did not test out the BMC prior to updating...

    X570D4U-2L2T

It's the X570D4U.I think the board is broken. I'm going to try for an RMA, which is a pain as I waited for this board since... november. Good thing it's for a personal project...

    X570D4U-2L2T

Interesting! I am running the beta bios and it has no fw for the BMC. So no remote access. I tried manually loading the BMC fw, but it didn't work out.

    ASRock Rack X570D4U

Well, I have this board. And I have updated the beta bios to support the 5600x cpu. Seems to work great. Unfortunately, this beta bios for this board does not seem to include the BMC firmware. I have tried manually installing the BMC firmware, but it fails. Waiting on Asrock support for a...

    X570D4U-2L2T

Hey Karp! Did you have any issues with the beta BIOS needed on the X570D4U to run the 5600x and getting the BMC to function?

Not sure I'd be comfortable with it in even a backup role.

Is anyone else getting stir crazy?

If I had to be trapped somewhere, Singapore would be high on my list. Primarily for food related reasons. :) As a small biz owner who has been 100% remote for years, I can completely relate. If you don't "own" the company, this seems to be much easier. I have several team members who are...

Is anyone else getting stir crazy?

I am going stir crazy as well. We have a small vacation property in the USA (I'm Canadian) and we typically spend spring break and summer holidays down there as the kid can play outdoors with other kids all the time. They shut the border down the night we were packed and leaving and thought...

Does any one have experience with the Dell SCv3020 units?

Cheezehead, appreciate the feedback! I haven't used Dell in 10 years, due to a bad experience with "4 hour support". But I'm always willing to give second chances. For me, my biggest concerns are cost and performance. Small company, tight margins, many clients (over 300 little vm's) with high...

Does any one have experience with the Dell SCv3020 units?

We run a bunch of simple kvm VM's on hypervisors with direct attached SSD's simple linux mdraid. Performance has obviously been amazing, but we worry about drive failures causing large outages and the lack of flexibility to simply migrate VM's across hypervisors is a bit of a pain point. 10gb...

    FreeNAS is becoming TrueNAS Core

Ahh we started up in 2000, it's been a bit of a ride. Lucky to have a solid core of clients that keep us in business. I used the get a quote function on your site describing our needs. I believe I was looking at the TrueNAS system at the time, but am unsure what is our best option - I don't...

    FreeNAS is becoming TrueNAS Core

Hey Brett, I run a webhosting company, we're fairly technical here. We also live with thin margins, so when we see relabeled supermicro gear selling for 3-4x the costs we normally pay (and we get no massive discounts), it is very frustrating. Not that I can say IXSystems does this, as my...

CPU mining with linux on old webservers

Ok, the larger pool size makes some sense to me. Maybe this is a good excuse to actually toy around with docker and not just have a half assed implementation set on fire and thrown at me (thanks ubersmith). $30/m for an idle server that would otherwise be collecting dust sounds good to me...
