cant simply just get a connection from 40g to 1g cable?
didnt you mention that you were able to change the fan settings but was overriden by the system fault?
can't recall, also @oddball also mentioned theres fan control but I haven't found it anywhere in CIMC yet.
yea I am not too keen on using USB to RJ45 due to USB 2.0 speed, and with more than couple drives it quickly becomes a bottleneck.
btw on which page did you see the fan control in the CIMC? i still couldnt find it.
@Slothstronaut those are some pretty high level stuff you're willing to try to go that far. normally i'd just try for a supported NVMe drive or give up. I managed to solve the issue with assigning under storage section so thats working now but still unable to find the fan control.
I dont have...
managed to get into the CIMC but can't find where to adjust the fan speed.
@Slothstronaut @pcmantinker @Digital Spaceport were you able to find anything related to fan control?
furthermore, looking at the video from digital's post, in the storage area mine shows these:
anything past 10 drive...
@Slothstronaut were you able to get it to go on network and have internet access with the cable you used? also which driver is required under windows or was it recognized on default? lastly which window version are you using?
@feffrey that video is an excellent find, ty. and to answer about voltage, at our place we only got 120v and not the 220v. it definitely works on 120v as thats what power supply sticker shows.
what I find is a lot of big servers will say 220v only but it's power supply is what determines it im...
some questions. so the CIMC (via browser I assume after setting up the DHCP thing), you can have it set all LFF bays to work with a single node (blade), yes? and from what @oddball mentioned fan control can be done in there as well.
are you installing windows on it? could you also take a...
if you don't mind, please have a step by step guide for dumb people like me. it seems installing windows isnt doing me a wonder, only picks up half the drive bay and ethernet/internet connection via SIOC does not work (even with installed driver).
i dont have serial connection. only KVM to VGA but finally got time to try out the DHCP thing. as you can probably tell I have always been installing via USB rather than manage them through network.
the dhcp thing, do you have a step by step of it? im not entirely sure what I need to do here.
if I may get some more knowledge from you. I set the password to CIMC prior and this time loggin in by just typing the password but it simply just blackscreen with nothing loading showing. do you know what the issue may be? also if I were need to reset the password, how can I go about this or...
@oddball so thats basically what Ive been looking for all along. I'd have to learn how to use CIMC. I am just upset that BIOS is so lacking in this regards seems half assed effort from cisco. I'll give those a try.
how can I use the CIMC for other bios settings or even access them?
I took out the NVMe later on with just 1 node, 1 SIOC and 1 CPU so I don't see what would be the "unsupported" hardware. but if theres a fan setting then I'd love to have access to that. is CIMC 4.2 a firmware and how do I...
no idea of wattage havent had time to measure them. can probably install hwinfo but it would not be fully accurate and I currently dont have enough drives to populate them, will eventually migrate from old servers to it tho.
for noise, on idle its around 57 to 58db at lowest. not sure why the...
I would need some help on that. I spent nearly 3 hours going through page by page, ended up giving up and go for search terms which I think would fall under drive bay population but to no avail. couldn't find anything remote to it, if you could point me to which page approxmiately and I'd start...
they both go through raid controller screen (ctrl + R) and both are avago mega raid. the raid card isn't in the chassis but part of the node right? or is it on the SOIC?
btw, do you know if the full LFF bays will work with a single node or does it require both nodes populated?
