I'm somewhat surprised.. The 8260 is 2.4-->3.1, while your "true 6240" qrag is 2.6-->3.1. True, the 8260 has 25% more cores, but note that the 6240 performance drops almost linearly by 25%, which shouldn't be.

note that the 8260 has 15 Watt TDP more than the 6240.
compare in the same system.
cores are beating ghz. each core add's 3.1Ghz in the pool. 6*3.1Ghz / 18 = 1.03ghz. the 6240 must be 4.1Ghz allcore to reach the 8260.

Mh, true...

Allow me one more question. How do you install your lga3647 processors? Would you suggest some variable-torque screwdriver?
R
RolloZ170
i bought one torque screwdriver(1.2Nm) , but after some installations i don't need em anymore.
there is a horrible video from intel howto install a lga3647 cpu(by a woman)

drop the cpu/cooler combination on the socket, hand-fasten the screws.
fasten screw 1 and 2. then:
A:
3 one turn
4 one turn
if the torque screwdriver don't click GOTO A

should be 4-5 turns each side
the leaf spring(screw3&4) must be pulled all the way up.

<< if the torque screwdriver don't click GOTO A >> :D

You know, I'd go for the torque screwdriver, but I don't actually know the official torque specified by intel.. I heard 0.8, 1.0, and 1.2 Nm...

That video scares me. She goes straight away tightening just one side, rather than proceed gradually...

Hate to say this, but the fact that she's a woman does not surprise me...

the torque is specified in your cooler documentation.
i use 1.2 Nm. thats a little less than needed.
the use of that torque screwdriver is because woman install cpu too !

But then, probably I'll find the torque in the instructions for my cooler.. I ordered the supermicro's 4U. The tower model with one 92mm fan.
R
RolloZ170
the exact torque is 1.36 Nm (12 in-lbf)
R
RolloZ170
" page 92, it says 0.8 nm "
thats the socket, not the cpu/cooler.

Thank you! :)

Right, I noticed it a bit too late!

you don't need the full torque, I recommend to install the cpu without memory i installed. then you can see the spring going UP.
