What expansion cards are compatible with the mezzanine-looking slot on those boards?

Where are the deals on barebone Dell C6220s? :(
What would you consider a deal? I have seen a few barebones with all nodes for $1,000-1,500 on ebay.

Also didn't someone mention that the e5-2670 x8 in the c6220 might tax the PSU?

As long as your ATX PSU has the proper connections -- YES -- they work, I use an ATX Desktop PSU on my bench and have tested many many many SM boards from E3 v1 to E3 v3, E5 v1/2 to E5 v3, etc... all work, no problems at all.

a silly question but was looking at X9DR-IF dual 2011

would a normal ATX psu and non ecc ddr3 work on those boards ? as a temporally solution / testing
It should, though make sure the ATX power supply you're using has two 8pin EPS power connectors. Most low end power supplies have either none or one.

Most likely NO.
8gb ECC ram is dirt cheap today on Ebay. $12-$20 per stick.
Only need 1 x 4gb or 8gb to perform power on and boot testing.

How did the board get messed up? Rough shipping, manufacturer defect? Are you talkin' bent pins on CPU socket? YIKES if so, that guy is pretty much in middle of mobo. What the hell???

First board was fine physically except for fan header so I sent it to be checked out by SM.

Second board was open box purchased directly from provantage. The threads on the board that attach it to the case seem to have been screwed on exceptionally hard previously, both sockets seemed to have a pin bent. I think whoever purchased this and returned it messed it up.

AsRock boards are reasonably priced new but no idea how reliable they are. Also learned something new. SM warranty is from the day the board is sold to the re seller/distributor, not the day the board is sold to you.

I swear...must be something in the air, my second X9SRL-F mobo just arrived BEAT to SH|T, outside newegg box was beat in on both ends, supermicro box was heavily dinged and crumpled on one corder...way to go newegg for poor packing (was waiting for the day this would bite me), UPS for who knows what you guys did (soccer game anyone/conveyor log jam...chriznizzle) or the seemingly unnecessary handoff to USPS once it hit my town and they had a blast w/ it.

Sooo pissed, mobo 'looks' fine, SM box is in bad shape, I'll post pics up later

Comments/thoughts, what would you do? SUPER irritating paying retail $270 over at newegg for this board and then this garbage happens. First one did arrive in good shape. Arrggh

Test, send back, give two turds?

Can't see how this is legal. Who warranty's the board? SM or the re seller/distributor?

If the board looks good I wouldn't care if the box came on fire :)
