Patrick or anyone: I see you have these in the lab. Do they work with Supermicro motherboards? They only list IB xeon and SB i3 as compatible.

Hi Jeggs101,

Yes, they do unofficially.

Here is what I got from Supermicro support when I asked them about this: "X9SCx series boards are compatible with the Ivy Bridge i3 CPUs. We have tested it in our labs and they have passed but not yet validated that is why they are not posted on the website yet."

There should be a new BIOS due out soon that will have the required support added in with the webpage specs updated to reflect the new processor support.

That said, if you want to get one of the new Ivy bridge chips it might be worthwhile to have a Sandy bridge chip (i3 or Pentium) you can get your hands on for flashing if it doesn't work.
