So if you bought 8 of those E5-2670s, seems pretty decent at $1250 OBO: www.ebay.com/itm/151875485263

Reputable seller that I've bought from before. Wouldn't surprise me if they take $1k, but I already have enough hardware, so I'll let one of you lot find out.

Umm...
"Please note: CPU, RAM and hard drives are NOT included. This server was previously running E5-2697v2 CPU's, 16GB PC3-14900 RAM and SSD's (they have all been pulled and are NOT included). You need to provide your own compatible CPU, RAM and HD to complete this server. "...

Confused why the need to highlight that note. The server is listed as 'barebone'. No cpu, ram or HD is the expected configuration for barebone. There is no "ummm..." here.

Actually, that is great. No need to flash to V2 using V1 chips.

And $1k might work. I would personally be tempted by Dell C6220's at that price since you have mezzanine plus a PCIe card slot.

Sorry, your right. I didn't see the barebone. Although... $1200 for mobo and chassis? I havn't had a LGA2011... I havn't realized they were this expensive.
This is for FOUR nodes. So four motherboards in that single chassis. $1k would likely get taken so that is $250 for each server's share of motherboard, chassis and power supply. Killer deal.

Wish they had 2x10G on-board or the Mellanox ConnectX-3 40G, I would snap these up for cloud nodes

That's the exact reason I haven't jumped on these. I've been looking for a new 4 node with 10Gb SPF+ or ConnectX-3 onboard.
