Does anyone know, from a features standpoint, if this is better than my Cisco SG300-20?

Sucks those modules are more than the switch+modules on eBay right now =)

It's a L3 switch with some VMware bits built in and touts being VMready. I paid 200 for one with the 10GbE uplink. I haven't done anything with it besides use it to bridge VLANs to my 3750G core for my Gnodal 10GbE switch.

I don't like two things. One is that you need to plug in both power supplies to keep the fan profiles low and quiet. The other is that I had to buy a special mini-USB to DB-9 serial cable for console use. It has a web gui but I never really used it outside of firmware updates.

Actually one other thing... you can configure the CLI to be either IBM or Cisco like. The Cisco like is Cisco like enough to be confusing at times.

I'm trying to score one for cheap but haven't got anyone below $190 with the 10Gb module included.

Thanks for the input and information!

How loud are the fans on these under normal conditions? How much electricity do they actually use? If they aren't too loud or power hungry, these look like a great deal for what you get.

We use 2-way and 3-way ones all the time. You need them in racks full of compute since reach pdus doing have enough ports...

Mine runs around 80 watts. With both power supplies plugged in the fans just as tolerable as my 3750G or my 3650G.

I think the "F" stands for air flowing from front to back and I'm eagerly awaiting the prices on the 10Gb module ones to come down.

I have a Juniper EX2200 -24T-4G that's pretty quiet. And if you only need 14 ports there's always the EX2200-C, but man, are they pricey for 14 ports.

These things are pretty hot (330w typical power dissipation, 375w max. Not the worst for a TOR switch but still a toaster oven). Funny is that the manuals state it only uses 120w but then it mentions heat dissipation listed above. Noise is pretty bad and the manual just states "Under 65dB".

Those numbers seem way off, mine doesn't get hot at all and it's not really noisy either. It just has an annoying low-pitch drone because of the speed the fans run at when they're idle.

Did anyone buy this particular switch with the uplink module and is looking to part with the switch? (with the uplink module included)?
