Who cares if it turns on at 500 watts or 400 watts or 300 watts, it does NOT turn on now and it should.

Bottom line.

It's not working as intended.

RMA it if you can, if not use it with another PSU in another system :)

New update. Got my MB in yesterday and all went fine. Untill I discovered there is 2 ways a LGA2011 can be fitted. Narrow and Square iml. And ofcourse my cooler is for square. So last night I ordered the 4U Active SM heatsink. So another 3-4 days of waiting.

This SM adventure is beginning to kill me :) - Atleast I know better next time.

My ram is at the post office, but no rush getting those I guess :p

Ditto @Frtiz and it's why I stopped buying INTEL HSF combos for 2011... I'd rather give SM the $ get a Square ILM and Narrow ILM bracket with 1 purchase instead of having to source & buy the other brackets, stupid intel.

Yes, I just ran into this recently when I opened up my 2U INTEL coolers... no too happy, opened up the SM ones, same thing, but looky there a narrow bracket :D

Yesterday I finally got my cooler. And the server turned on :D Now I just have a problem with med m1015 crossed to IT. It takes really long time to find the disks, but then when I pass them into a ubuntu 14 I can see them but don't get any information. Can't access them at all. Seems I have a issue between the controller and the back plane :/

The BPN-SAS-846TQ is not an expander backplane so with one M1015 you can only connect 8 drives/bays. Could you have drives in bays that are not connected to the controller?

Got it solved, one of the disks was bad. Despite I had run smartdata on all of them before I used them in the new server.

Ealier in the post someone said that you need to pulle 3-400 watts to start with SM PSU, but that is NOT correct. Can start with no problem pulling arround 100-150watt

I'd hate to necro this thread, but did anyone find a solution to getting an asus motherboard to post with this power supply? I'm running into the same problem with a M9D-MV motherboard

When I ordered my first SC846 I had planned to transplant a Asus MB into it but decided while it was in transit to go with a SM server board just to make it legit. After this thread I'm glad I did. Even tho it cost me about twice as much in the end it runs flawlessly and I have lots of room for expansion. I went with a X8DT6-F for the first and the second came with a X8DTE-F. Both boards are fully compatible with the SC846.
