So, I've been thinking a bit about putting Mini-ITX boards standing on the side in a 4U enclosure.
A Mini-itx board is 6,7"x 6,7" and 4U is 7". This should leave enough room for the "structure" of the chassis.
I'm thinking of buying the cheapest 4U chassis I can find ($70) and cut out the front of it. Then I can slide in the Mini-ITX boards on the side.
For power, I'm thinking of using standard 1100W power supplies and make a "backbone" where I can connect the Pico-PSU's in.
This should give me around 8 "blades" in a 4U enclosure at a very cheap price.
Has anyone tried something similar to this?
