LSI 2308 / 3008 SMART passthrough / HDD spindown support

Hi,

Does anyone know if the LSI 2308 and/or 3008 supports SMART passthrough and/or HDD spindown (through the OS)?

If it makes any difference, it would be connected to a SAS expander backplane (LSI expander chip on Supermicro backplane).

Both 2308 and 3008 are capable of smart pass through. The firmware makes all the difference in the world.
I had seen smart pass through working with:
1. LSI 9300-8i with P6 firmware. Smart pass through was not working for P5 or earlier firmware;
2. LSI 9341-8i cross flashed to LSI 9300-8i P6 firmware;
3. Supermicro AOC-S2308L-L8e.

Sorry to necro an old thread - but does anybody know if spindown works with the 9300-8i?

I've found this thread elsewhere on getting it to work with the SAS2008 drivers but the same driver hack doesn't seem to have any effect with the 9300-8i: Does t-raid have built in HDD spin down commands?

Sorry about the late reply. I have the Supermicro X10SRH-CLN4F mainboard which has a LSI 3008 controller. I think this is either the same or almost the same as the 9300-8i?

I got spindown working on mine, by using the trick in the last post in this thread: LSI MegaRAID SAS 9211-8i on Windows Server: HDD idle spin down?

Are you running the Supermicro firmware or did you flash it to native LSI? What firmware Rev are you running?

It was running IR firmware, I reflashed to IT firmware (P6) from Supermicro.
