This guy had a previous listing selling >50 of these as new, I him believe when he says very light usage, but its 100 DWPD anyway, right?

(I grabbed a new one from him was delivered quickly, no issues.. Using it in PrimoCache, 0MB Level 1 Cache.)

Did a quick check of performance and then set it as L2 for primocache.

Dang, look at that.

Out of sheer curiousity, what do people even use these for? What are some use cases in a homelab for them?

I use the 900\905 in my desktop for OS drive + a couple games and apps -- it's overkill but it does make things load fassssst :D
For servers.... VM storage, DB storage :D

If someone here has already bought it and could share CrystalDiskInfo window that would be really appreciated

UPD: If I'm not mistaken there's no performance gain if I choose a larger capacity. They're all performing the same speed, capacity is the only difference (400 Gb / 800 Gb / 1.6 Tb). So, it could be faster if I take a pair of 400 Gb (instead of a single 800 Gb) and make it work as a RAID0 array.

If I had money to burn I would consider buying two as a ZIL for my NVME pool - but spending 1k USD for this is not really needed - but it would be nice :)

Anyone knows in practice how this performs with PCIe 3.0 X4, anything close to full bandwidth of 3.6GB/s?

I'm using it in PrimoCache, hoping to forgo L1 or use very little and try to use this as a system wide cache on my system. I would like to come up with some universal perfect configuration that works for any possible workload I might be doing from day to day, but I haven't found it yet. I often find myself creating ripping down my general cache to purge it and make something that it tailored to what I am working on at that moment.

Here is STH's review, and another from a friend Damon who made a review as well.. maybe there is something to glean from these.

Of course these reviews above are on the 800GB version... I ain't got that kind of cheddar for anything bigger than the 400GB. :D

It was $625 and he had new ones when I bought mine, holograms were intact. I often wonder where someone gets a hold of >50 of these drives at once to unload on ebay at such a bargain price.

I am guessing - but since the drive is capable of more that 3.6GB/s, then I cannot see why it should not perform max of pcie 3.0 x4 - its backwards compatible, so what will happen is that it should negotiate a slower interface speed, but the drive should not stop performing as it does - unless pcie 4 has more parallel lanes - which I do not know about :)

great price for the US, just hate the ebay global shipping program to europe, VAT and shipping makes it not that great of a price.

I contacted that guy when he first listed them to ask about total r/w. He then replied that he made a mistake in listing them as used and changed them to new. He also raised the price. Still a really good deal and had me considering even though I already have 2 of the 800GB and was selling them due to overkill. I was also curious as to their origin as he had a lot and was selling them almost half off.

dual amd 7763s with a total of 512MB L3 cache backed by dual optane p5800x 800GB backed by dual 6.4TB nvme gen4 ssds using hw nvme raid all to optimize pong on my windows 8 server

also to run proprietary performance benchmarking for my day job.

w00t?

Edit: importation costs to eu are excluded. 21% over these products as added value is just too much unfortunately.
