Can someone kindly chime in and confirm for me that this memory is compatible with a X10SL7-F supermicro mobo? Believe it should be but want to be certain before I order 4 sticks.

Requires ECC UDIMM (U=unbuffered not registered).
CT102472BD160B or CT2KIT102472BD160B worked for me.

OK, this looks like what I need then. Damned me for trying to stray from the SM recommended/tested mem list and save a few bucks...that could have been a hassle, thanks!

Samsung M391B1G73BH0-CK0 8GB DDR3 ECC PC3-12800 1600Mhz 2Rx8 Memory
FWIW I currently have the Samsung M391B1G73QH0-YK0 in my X10SL7. I'm certain I got it from SM's qualified RAM list. Been absolutely solid for years.

Also, I recall reports that the equivalent Kingston RAM was problematic in this board, despite working just fine in previous SM units.

This is what I'm using. Been running 24/7 since I got the board with zero problems.

Do you guys know if this board will take non-ECC RAM? SM product page says it supports 4th gen Core i3, Pentium, Celeron which don't support ECC RAM if I'm not mistaken.

Despite not being Xeons, those CPUs are indeed compatible with ECC RAM (yay for goofy Intel market segmentation). My X10SL7 has an i3-4130 along with the ECC sticks mentioned above.

That's good to know, and quite unexpected (to me). Did you try the non-ECC RAM or it's definitely a no go.

You mean non-ECC of course. Isn't the hmt31gr7bfr8c one you posted above the RDIMM? Yet it does work in this board. I'm confused.
ACK !! Sorry, typo. Yea, I meant non-ECC.

And yes, my memory is RDIMM. It works flawlessly. I'm using the board in a workstation. Currently running a E5 2620v3 I picked up for $18 but just ordered a E5 2670v3 from eBay for $100. wanted to make sure everything worked before buying a more expensive CPU. Eventually I'll add more RAM but all is good for now. I was pleasantly surprise to find that it's almost silent in the Fractal Design case with the fan setting at economy. Just have to decide what I'm going to do for sound. Probably go with an external USB DAC.

Now I'm even more confused. Are you sure we're talking about the same board? X10SL7-F doesn't support E5 xeons o_O

Pardon me while i go in search of my mind. Obviously I have lost it.

I was thinking about the X10SRL-F I recently bought as a result of the Hot Deals forum here.

The X10SL7-F is in a server. It's running an E3 1270v3 and 16GB of ECC UDIMM ram.

Sorry. :(

Also, to be clear, the X10SL7 (and all other Xeon E3-based systems, the Core i3, etc.) will only work with unbuffered ECC DIMMS (UDIMMs). Registered ECC (RDIMMs) will not work.

Higher-end Xeons, (e.g., the E5), can use RDIMMs.

And ECC UDIMMs are pricey.
