Hello! I'm currently using NAS with LSI 9361-8i (IBM branded) with 6 hdds and 2xIntel S3700 as Cache Cade 2.0 (2x100GB, RAID0). Should i replace them with Samsung 840 Pros (2x128GB)? 840 Pros are lot faster on write (2x faster, actually), but they don't have PLP. BBU is attached, of course.

The 100GB are slower than the 200GB S3700 too.

You only need a couple, so why not snag the S3710 200GB that would be a worthy upgrade :)

Found it...

Exploring the Relationship Between Spare Area and Performance Consistency in Modern SSDs

Look at the "Default" S3700 vs "Default Samsung ;)

I have to disagree with an 840 Pro > than a Intel S3700 though if you OP you can gear ~ same performance it appears as S3700 re: IOPs. I would still argue the Samsung latency > Intel too and in your case that may matter a lot.
Thanks. I decided to keep 3700s for now, later i'll replace them with larger models, or even SAS12 ssds.

Also, lol. I used to know Anand. Worked @ X-bit Labs in 3d section (under nick Vader). Wrote many reviews, from Radeon 9500 Pro to GeForce GTX 580. These was fun times! 20-30 3d cards in 15-30 games etc. Sorry. A bite of nostalgia.

FWIW there's also an 840 PRO equivalent "Enterprise" version.
I think I may have one floating around, I want to say 845DC... ah-well you won't regret HGST SAS3 drives :)
