New nvme cost about the same numbers.

This is MLC, not TLC or QLC. Yes, it has lower burst/peak performance, but it will keep going at a high speed longer than a TCL or QLC drive once the SLC buffer runs out. It will have a higher TDW per capacity than a TCL or QLC drive. If you are looking for NVMe for a more sustained workload (cache level for a drive pool, lots of vms, etc) this is a better actual value.

Yes. This day its quite hard to find workstation class SSD with MLC. Samsung 970 Pro - one and only officially retail available model with MLC. There are some SM963 on Ebay also, but they are slower than SM961. PM models are all TLC.
