I ended up using mine as a PFSense box. Works flawlessly as such.

Just tried flashing the DT122-BE with the modded BIOS and it doesn't have the GPU settings under chipset - anyone else hit this?
It's been a while, but i think on mine it didn't show up until I actually put a GPU in the PCI-E slot

Ended up slapping windows 10 on mine and used it to drive the heads-up projectors at our last LAN
event, worked great (can see them here):

What is your line speed and are you running any IDS/IPS? If so, what speeds are you seeing?
I run pfSense inside HyperV on Windows Server 2019. I wasn't able to get gigabit speed with the onboard adapters. I ended up adding a 2 port Intel Pro 1000 PT card and get full gigabit speeds. Maybe the onboard NIC could do gigabit if pfSense was running directly on it, but I never tried that. I'm not using any IDS/IPS. I also run a Debian VM in HyperV for NxFilter DNS.

I picked up one of these a while back, with some fan mods it makes for a great little box. Has anyone managed to track down the right serial port adaptors , or even a adaptor for going from the tight pins to standard spacing, that are not overly expensive?

I absolutely despise eBay sellers who troll for suckers like this one is doing. It's a nice little box but not worth anywhere near what he's asking.

Be patient and this or something comparable will come along. Good luck.

@asmo I have a couple if you're interested. They are both unused. One was taken out of the box to check it and the other is still in the box sealed from when I received it.

I've been looking for a while to get a few of these, but I haven't seen a good deal for them in months (I came in late to the DFI DT122 party...). Anyone know where I could get a few at a similar $75-$99 per unit?

Since it seems like people are looking at the moment, I have a few HP T730s I'd be willing to sell at cost + shipping. They're MD RX-427BB with 4GB ram and 64GB SSD. I would sell them $120 each + shipping. Drives are wiped and includes power supply.

Hi Asmo,
I would be interested in one, it would depend on the shipping to NZ (out of your control), currently looking for one and on Ebay the shipping varies from $18 to $90

Using mine for PfSense. Been running 24/7 for months without a hitch. Stable little box for sure.

What speeds are you getting and what is enabled on yours (ie...IDS/IPS stuff or anything at all)?

Haven't check the speed but have no reason to believe it's abnormal. Just standard settings. I did add PfBlocker but that's it.

EDIT - just checked my internet speed and got 119.06 down and 5.95 up. Download is a little better than expected. Should be 100 but I'm not complaining.

Just to give some ballpark context: RX-427BB is really close to the performance of an i7-920; I wouldn't expect high performance IDS/IPS out of these. I'd think about mirroring your LAN trunk traffic at the switch to a second port and running IDS on a sufficiently fast second box. RX-427BB can handle routing/firewalling/wireguard without issue but I'd expect IDS/IPS to be a stretch on a <40W machine.
