HP H220 Slow Writes

Hi,
I just bought a HP H220 and installed it in my DL360e G8. VMWare immediately recognised the controller and was able to create the datastores. On a Windows server 2016 VM I run CrystalDiskMark and got 510MB/s reads (which is expected) but only 72MB/s on a new Samsung 860 Evo SSD. How can I make this faster?

Some Googling suggests there are several posts on various forums that suggest ESXi will be disabling Drive Write Cache causing massive slow downs.

As per the reddit post - make sure you have the HPSSACLI tools installed and try this command

/opt/hp/hpssacli/bin/hpssacli ctrl slot=0 modify dwc=enable

I'm thinking about getting a DL360e G8 too.
I read that the G8 are not supported by ESXi 6.7, so I might install 6.5. Which version are you using?

Official support for Gen8 is limited to 6.5 but that still has a long life ahead of if yet. Unless you need some specific in 6.7 then still good systems generally. (For the right price)
