My one was the same, fully sealed, but only have had 70-77% left. So definitely used.
Thank you for this - persuaded me to to buy another one or at least to ask what the PBW rating is. I was more lucky than you - mine is 96.66% remaining. At 77% even though that's still years it is not A grade IMHO

I'm going to guess that they sold out of Grade A units, and when they realized they had a hot deal, they raised the price and started substituting Grade B units.

Possibly, or perhaps they chucked them all in a pile and its luck of the draw. Bit disappointing, particularly with the change in price.

Well seams I lost the draw

Code:
Active media: 100.00%
Rated PBW: 20.00 PB, 71.69% remaining
    Lifetime data volumes:
       Physical bytes written: 5,661,470,106,012,224
       Physical bytes read : 6,053,612,565,897,000
Thinking about writing to them, 71% is not Grade-A above 90% is Grade A

I did, got a reply back:

Dear Customer,

The SSD's listed in the auction are used and refurbished by Ultratec. The parts are sold in "A" grade physical condition. We do not check wear levels unless requested to do so by the customer.
The drives are used so should be expected to show signs of wear.

You are welcome to return these drives but the you would need to cover the cost of return due to the parts not being faulty

Kind Regards

Ultratec Team

Bummer

Also do any of you guys have this error

Code:
ACTIVE INFO:
Power write governing activated, performance may be limited. If
this condition persists, switch to a higher powered PCIe slot
            or attach external power cable.
it makes no sense since I have a 75W port

External Power: NOT connected
PCIe Bus voltage: avg 11.67V
PCIe Bus current: avg 0.92A
PCIe Bus power: avg 10.78W
PCIe Power limit threshold: 24.75W
PCIe slot available power: 75.00W

Sorry I do not. Is that as an output of an fio-status -a command?

The card has no way of knowing what the slot can support if your motherboard doesn't present that information properly.

Follow the user guide and enable pcie power override and you'll have full write bandwidth.

It’s just weird had no problem with my px600 card and it only happens after an foo-format

can fix it by rebooting after the format

Interesting that they apply their grade rating to the physical appearance of:

A: A PCIE card
B: A storage device

Dodgy imho
Sounds like a scam. I'm definitely going to complain if it turns out mine is like that. Sounds like the seller should be selling used clothes based on these criteria, not anything related to storage.

I did read the datasheets but would like an opinion of an expert :)

@acquacow if you had to choose between this and sx350 drive which one would you choose ? both of the same capacity.

Well, the 350s use twice the pci-e lanes and are twice as fast, but if your mobo only has x4 slots, that won't matter...

Ideally you'd get the newer product.

I have same issue on both my cards. There's little connector on the board to attach additional power (for whatever reason). Seller is saying this is the first time someone reporting it and they've sold 60+ of them. And they've no idea where to get that cable.

If you are sure your motherboard provides 75W to the PCIe slots you can force it to pull the power from the slot. Most desktop/workstation boards should provide 75W to the slot. I've used these cards in 5 motherboards and it all of them had to be forced.

Code:
fio-config -p FIO_EXTERNAL_POWER_OVERRIDE [card1serialnumber]:75000,[card2serialnumber]:75000

Mine arrived today with 90% of endurance remaining so pretty happy with that. Although I did also pay the higher price for the card. Should have bought two :p

What are other people's experiences with usage of the reserve space on Fusion IO cards in general? The meager few I've seen have never seem to have dipped into that all. I suspect the OS support for these will die much before the reserve space gets significantly consumed..
