I ordered 2x 10 packs.
<$20 each is a fantastic deal for this DOM.
Looking at 'fleabay, sellers are asking $85/90 for the SM version.

What are you going to do with so many of them? Are they all for home?
I'll keep them for future projects & as spares.
That 64gig size is perfect as a boot drive with pretty much all hypervisors.

What is the average life expectancy for a SATA-DOM?

Do you ever mirror the DOMs?

I don't mirror the DOMs.
I think SM used to have a paper that says not to mirror DOMs, not sure if that is still valid today!

Went out of stock real fast :.)

I wonder if I can get him to break the pack? ;)

Quick question, can anyone confirm that this doesn't need powa? It can get its power from the SATA port alone?
Only orange sata ports on x10 and newer boards

Ah, ok got it. Darn. My x8 test bench wont work. Ok I can prob grab a cheap 64 gb ssd for $10 bucks or something.

Thanks!
Well, the X9 mobos have a connector on board for a power cable, usually only one though. But I have seen 2 on some. You could check your mobo manual for one, usually it's called "DOM Power" or "SATADOM Power" in the board reference when you're looking at a diagram.

3 pin for Supermicro X10, but those should be able to be powered by the orange satadom powerable sata ports on SM systems. At least that’s what the specs and details say...
I have a counter offer waiting for me to accept, probably will accept it if I don’t find anything else when looking later so will for sure know soon.

Just and FYI, I received SATADOM from the seller I posted couple posts back and it does not work without cable in the SM orange SATA port.

Would it be OK to use these as ESXi boot disks in a bunch of R630s? They're much cheaper than IDSDM + 2x Dell SD cards, SLC is generally pretty damn reliable, but I couldn't find any endurance ratings on the datasheet for the Innodisk SATADOM-ML 3SE series.

Dell has a page for the SATADOM and R630/R730/R730xd, where it states:

This drive is configured as a boot device on a dedicated controller that is separate from the main data drives.

⚠ NOTE: SATADOM is not recommended as a general purpose boot device.
