I suspect there must be some more niche or edge cases where that huge cache is having even a greater difference than your benchmarks show. I can’t remember what software it was in the engineering / HPC world I came across but I do know sometimes cache is king for certain workloads.

Maybe we see a bit more of this with per core license now mostly the norm again.

Our virtualization workloads actually show it a bit more.

In the mean time I keep buying intel as it’s just a known quantity for the workloads. :-/
Post cascade lake xeon will determine if we make another choice.

In a personal capacity I would have purchased AMD in a heartbeat but don’t have the need right now

The cores race is crazy, I wonder if my next desktop has more cores than my servers today :)
