I have had good luck with Micron SSD. This is a 5100 ECO so it is read intensive, less than 1 DWPD. The three year warranty from OWC is a plus, as Micron does not offer warranty RMA's to end users.

Is this true? How does one get support when/if their drive fails?

$399 is not a good price for these.

You can get nvme 3.84T for $370, and these sata 3.84T for ~$300.

Where do you go about getting either of these prices? Ebay doesn't seem to be that promising, are you implying OEM b2b price or is it something a consumer can still get?

Everyone can get those prices on Ebay.

As a follow up I found a seller from israel that had a bunch, got 3 for 270 each, that's a nice deal and will go into my array nicely.
I bought from the same seller with this guy. 4x Micron 5100 Eco 3.84TB for 260 each.

Samsung PM983 NVMe 3.84TB was not a good deal for $380 each.

Less than month ago they were sold for $200 on eBay, almost not used. Later for $300 with moderate usage from Israel. 1.5-2x more for warranty sounds too much.

I managed to grab 4, and just sold some other gear and went to get another 4, and they're sold out!

Does anyone know where I could get 4 more to complete my array? Or a source for 8x 4TB SATA SSDs around the same-ish price?

I checked the usual sources, eBay, CL, other shopping sites but came up with nothing :(

There are a few listings on the 'Bay, this one is close with qty. 12+: Micron 5200 5210 ION 3.84 TB Solid State Drive - SATA [SATA/600] - 2.5" Drive - 649528787941 | eBay

There are some other options in the ball park if you mix 4 drives of a different make/model.

Check your PM in a few as well.
Thanks, I steered clear of the 5210 due to the much lower write speed and iirc the endurance wasn't that great either.

I should say I'm looking for something comparable to the 5200 Eco...

At 3.84tb i like the PM863 (bit older now), haven’t tried the new models.
That’s purely because nothing intel in that size SATA.
If anybody does see any decent cheap low power sata 3.84tb I am interested. Perfect for bulk storage.

Bulk storage = Exactly my use case :)

I have a bunch of Dell branded 1.92 863a drives I’m happy with, I like that Samsung owns all the silicon and software in one package.

That said, Micron make some great kit (I love Crucial for server memory!) and these are a lot cheaper than the Samsungs right now.
