Looking for recommendations for a 10GbE switch for my home rack. Like most of us here, I've got a bit of a hard-on for enterprise gear. Unfortunately I'm not as knowledgeable on the networking front as some of you guys, so here I am. Please let me know what's out there!
  • 24+ SFP+ ports (would also accept 2x 16 port switches or similar)
  • Relatively quiet
  • Works with Finisar FTLX8571D3BCL transceivers
  • Web managed preferred, CLI OK
  • Rack mountable
  • 40GbE QSFP or Infiniband support desirable but not required
  • Cheap (used OK, "cheap" defined as under $1000, with $300-500 preferred)
  • No breakouts required

Or convert an EMC SX6012/8, they do breakout ... so 12x4 ports max (18 does not allow breakout on all ports iirc)

I would look for arista switches on ebay.

24+ ports: check (depending on the model :D)
Quiet: check (you need a command to set the fans to 30% rpm)
Compatibility: check (create a file with a certain filename in a directory)
Web gui: no
CLI: check(cisco like)
Rackmount: check (some models require rails other can be used with rack ears)
40gbe support: check (depending on the model)
Cheap: check (many sellers accept lower offers, I got a 7050q-16 for half of the price it was listed)

One of the things about arista switches sucks is to get the newest firmware.
