I have the opportunity to buy five of these servers new for $1650 each. I want to review one and may make a cluster with two more. Saves $600 to get five versus 3.

Key Specs
  • HPE PN: P04648-B21
  • Chassis: 8x SFF 2.5"
  • SAS: HP P408i-a
  • CPU: EPYC 7401P 24-core
  • RAM: 32GB (says 2x 16GB)
  • PSU: Single 800W Flexible Slot
  • No HDD
If anyone is interested, please let me know. It is a fairly good deal since:
  • AMD EPYC 7401P is around $1170
  • 2x 16GB DDR4 RDIMMs used $210
  • P408i-a is around $150 used
  • Power Supply $90 used
That ends up being around $30 for the motherboard, chassis, and cabling. You will likely have to add drive trays.

I have one of these already with an EPYC 7351P. You can actually re-wire it to use AMD SATA instead of the P408i-a if you want.

Local pick up in Mountain View CA or I can ship with your label. Also, I would want to use a lower than PayPal transaction fee method, e.g. Zelle, cash, or the like since this is being done at cost.

That's a steal. I likely would've jumped on this versus the 2x D-1557 systems.

I would jump on it too if I had a proper rack. Only a network rack here :(

What did folks end up getting? How'd they work out? @Patrick if these deals ever pop up again please post.
I sent the first ones out. Mine just arrived Monday afternoon, but due to the Cascade launch event I have not had the chance to open them.
