One of these was a SS300
https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/low-4k-read-performance-on-all-3-ssds.23826/

I bought those for their multipath support and the ability to just drop in 10 into any server.
Well thats not entirely true with the price of SAS3 (EL2) backplanes which also incurr connectivity costs for SAS3 (multipathed) but those are still cheaper than the 24 unit SM NVME chassis;)

(Actually got a HGST 4U60 for these; cheaper than getting a 826-SAS3-EL2 backplane. I do hope they will work in there;))

But if you want/need more than 4 or 6 drives than SAS is still better than NVME
