These are my 2 saved search options for DDR3:

16gb +(ddr3,pc3) +(12800,1600) +(reg,server) -(8gb,4gb,2gb)
16gb +(ddr3,pc3) +(14900,1866) +(reg,server) -(8gb,4gb,2gb)

Any recommended tweaks to improve the search results?
i would take out the (reg, server) i got a few more relevant hits

Is LR memory slower than regular registered modules? I thought it's the opposite.
LR is slightly slower for the same rated speed I think due to the extra register, but what I was really trying to say is the 2133mhz is reasonably slow, 2400 ok or 2666 is much more common and CPU’s can mostly today benifit from 2666.

LR memory used to come into its own back in older generation cpu with 3dpc where in that config normally memory too a big speed hit that LR didn’t. Today you only see it on big dimms.

For ddr4 normally 32gb is 2Rx4 and is normal rdimm, only 64gb and greater dimms are LR. But as you see some 32gb is also LR

Can’t mix rdimm and lrdimm.

for DDR3 16GB DIMMs, I'm seeing price trending upwards again to the $40-$45 range, this after dipping to $25 just a little while ago.

however, here's a bulk deal that is about $28/16GB DIMM for qty=32, with BO option (so might get for less):

Lot of 32 16GB 2Rx4 PC3-12800R ECC DDR3 Samsung Hynix Server Memory RAM | eBay

DDR4/16GB RDIMMs seem to be trending around $90~100, and dipping to around $80-$90 here and there.

The $$/GB still seems to be optimal at 16GB DIMM modules for both DDR3 and DDR4.

some ram i bought in past week or two (spent ~ 7 days searching for deals), ALL ARE ON SM QVL for my specific x10 or x9 MBs:

$40 each (bought 4x) HMA41GR7AFR8N-TF Hynix 8GB PC4-17000 DDR4 2133MHz ECC Reg 1.2V Memory Module

$128 for a lot of 4x sticks - Hynix 16GB 2Rx4 DDR3-1333 PC3L-10600R ECC REG 1.35V RDIMM HMT42GR7MFR4A-H9

best deal imo:
70$ each (bought 4x), but 1 of 4 were bad (memtest v7.2 pro lockups + FreeBSD wZFS, k panics) Rest i have tested , each, 72h + memtest.
seller is providing me a refund on the 1x stick though (after telling me he will provide refund "bc i dont know what im doing" :) )

Still a little too expensive. Last time I bought ddr3 it was $25/16gb ddr3 stick and $100/16gb 16gb ddr4 sticks about 1 yr ago

DDR4 is finally coming down a bit. I wonder if we would ever get 32gb for $100
Quality rdimm or just unbuffered regular ram ?
I am sure we will but hard to tell what or when, you may see a bit of a jump in consumption and prices holding a bit in 2019 with scalable v2 and new AMD chips.

SSD’s are a good deal cheaper though, pretty solid downward trend of recent times.

I would expect ddr4 non ecc udimm to be more expensive than ecc rdimm just like ddr3 because it's more widely in demand. but who knows...

yeah, ssd is definitely coming down a lot compared to 1 yr ago.... about time....
